About Nido Early School Alkimos

  • Animal hatching programs, butterfly life cycles, and worm farms encourage inquiry-based learning.
  • Sustainability initiatives include partnerships with Sea Shepherd for beach clean-ups and ReMida for recycled materials.
  • Yoga sessions and dental health programs promote well-being and healthy habits.
  • We host excursions and incursions that reflect children’s interests and foster community engagement.

At Nido Alkimos Early School, we provide high-quality early education and care for children from six weeks to six years. Our approach focuses on creating a nurturing environment where curiosity and creativity thrive. Guided by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we design learning experiences that respond to children’s interests and encourage exploration through programs like animal hatching, Adopt a Dolphin, and Adopt a Penguin.

Safety is always our priority. We follow national child-safe standards, maintain clear supervision, and provide ongoing training for our educators. Families can trust that every child is cared for in a secure and supportive environment.

Our learning programs include sustainability initiatives, yoga sessions, and partnerships with local organisations to enrich children’s experiences. These programs encourage confidence, creativity, and a love of learning.

Our environments are thoughtfully designed to spark imagination and exploration. Children enjoy art in our ateliers, shared meals in piazzas, and outdoor adventures in mature gardens, helping them develop new skills and healthy habits for life.

Community is central to Nido Alkimos. We collaborate with local libraries, schools, and community groups to create meaningful connections and extend learning beyond the classroom.

At Nido, every day is an opportunity to nurture confident, capable learners through safe, inspiring environments and meaningful experiences. Guided by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we turn everyday moments into lasting learning that shapes each child’s future.

Safety

Safety

Safety matters every day.
Every day, safety comes first at Nido. Across all our early schools, we work tirelessly to uphold the highest standards in safety. This commitment underpins every decision we make and every interaction we have with children and families.

We have embedded the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations across all our practices to ensure safe behaviours, environments, and accountability are part of everything we do.

Strong supervision and ongoing training
All Educators participate in an 8-week active supervision program, along with regular training and safety alerts. This ensures teams are vigilant, responsive, and prepared for every situation.

Safe design, technology and electronic devices
Our early school layouts are designed for maximum visibility and supervision. CCTV is installed externally at most of our early schools to enhance security. For the protection of all children, the use of personal devices to take photos or videos of children is prohibited for all Nido team members, students, volunteers, and visitors.

Rigorous recruitment and compliance
Our recruitment process includes enhanced screening, comprehensive reference checks, and clear expectations around child safety. Working with Children Checks are strictly managed and continuously monitored.

Professional learning and guidance
Educators receive regular training through leading Registered Training Organisations. Policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current legislation and best practice, ensuring everyone understands the behaviours and standards expected.

Comprehensive health and safety
We maintain secure single-point entry systems, and our staff are trained in first aid, asthma, anaphylaxis care, and food safety. We follow strict medication management protocols, a Cancer Council-accredited Sun Smart policy, and promote hygiene through engaging activities. Our schools take allergies seriously, including nut awareness, to help keep every child safe and included at mealtimes. Any incidents are documented and promptly communicated with families.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

We value strong partnerships with families and actively involve parents in their child’s learning journey. From enrolment, we collaborate with families to understand routines, interests, and goals, tailoring programs to meet individual needs.

Communication is open and transparent, with regular updates, photos, and videos shared through our 'StoryPark' App. Families are encouraged to participate in events and classroom activities, ensuring they feel connected to their child’s learning every day.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

Our curriculum is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and aligned with the EYLF to support holistic development. It is co-designed with families and experts to balance literacy, numeracy, creativity, health, and confidence.

Educators follow children’s interests and strengths, creating hands-on experiences that make learning meaningful and enjoyable. From sustainability projects and yoga sessions to animal hatching programs and creative arts, our curriculum turns everyday experiences into opportunities for lifelong learning.

Meet the team

Meet the team

Our leadership team at Nido Alkimos fosters a safe and nurturing environment where play is central to learning. We believe every voice matters and encourage collaboration between children, educators, and the community.

Educators walk beside children as co-creators of knowledge, asking questions, offering tools, and sharing in the magic of discovery. This approach builds confidence and a strong sense of belonging for every child.

Children often share what matters most to them:

“I love climbing!”

“We like to play and run!”

“I got messy today!”

“These are my friends.”

Dec, 2025

This childcare centre has not only given my child a sense of belonging and a confidence to explore, but has really made me feel welcomed and a part of his journey, I get so many thoughtful comments about his day by all the educators, no matter which room they are in they all seem to know and having positive things to say! I see so many experiences that align with the children’s interests taking place and get to join in on so many wonderful community events they plan! This service has been a breath of fresh air in how important early years education is and the role each person has in making meaningful learning for the children. The management team are incredible, always happy to chat and listen to our families needs, really taking the time to help build a better experience and life for our son. Thank you!

My daughter loves to attend, and has built beautiful relationships with the educators, Chloe M, Hali, Emma, Lily and Caren. They always put her needs at the front of their minds which puts me at ease.
