Young children just love giving their parents, or other family members, cards and heartfelt art creations for Valentine's Day. Hanging handmade decorations is also a great way to create a sense of warmth and kindness around your place of service too.

Spread the love this Valentine's Day with some fun and simple craft activities to keep those little hands busy. Here are 10 simple ideas to inspire you.

Heart fingerprint tree - Suitable for all ages and so easy to make with materials you’ll already have to hand, these fingerprint trees make lovely artworks or cute cards that parents will adore.

Little love book - A gorgeous little DIY heart shaped paper book filled with cute drawings and messages, for older children starting to write letters, that makes a perfect keepsake.

Heart stamps - The perfect activity for really little ones - simply bend a toilet roll to create a heart shape, dip in paint and get stamping!

3D heart decorations - Light up the classroom with love with these hanging 3D paper hearts. They're so simple to make yet look fantastic, and they don't cost much to produce either.

Rock heart artwork - Get the children busy both outdoors and in, collecting pebbles and stones to then stick onto paper to create a heart picture. For extra fun you can also paint the rocks.

Cardboard hearts - All you need is a cardboard box and wooden skewers and you're on your way. If children make several of these, they can create their own heart bouquet too.

Bee mine plate craft - Paper plates are fantastic for craft making and this cute pun idea will keep your little bees busier than ever!

Threaded wool heart - Another easy paper plate idea that's brilliant for developing those fine motor skills. Little ones will just need help cutting out the shape and punching holes.

Heart card - Sometimes the simple ideas are the best. A cute little heart shaped card sealed with a ribbon.

Valentine heart leis - Making paper heart necklaces is a super fun activity for children, and afterwards they can either give them as presents or pop them on to add to the celebrations.
