Employment

For the past year I have been working in a corporate office environment.  Whilst this was a career change, I really want to return to my love of working with children again and am going back to study to finish my Master of Social Work via distance education.  I have babysat for various families during this time.

November 2015-February 2016
Sydney, Australia
Childcare Provider

I moved to Sydney to be closer to my mother following a family tragedy. I offered holiday and afterschool care for a family who have 2 foster children. I have continued to offer ad-hoc care to the family throughout my time in Sydney. The children are a 9-year-old boy and a 11-year-old girl. I assisted with all age appropriate childcare activities, cooking and light housekeeping. I have taken some time off over the past 3 months to focus on my studies. I am now looking for a hands on, regular childcare position.

July 2014-November 2015
Melbourne, Australia
Childcare Provider

During my time in Perth I took up full-time studies towards my Masters degree and offered ad-hoc/temp babysitting at sole charge care to various families. My most regular role involved three boys; 6 months old, 2.5 years old and 7 years old. I generally worked with this for 2 days per week. In this instance I was a sole charge nanny and was responsible for all aspects of the boy’s care and development.

May 2013-April 2014
Melbourne, Australia
Childcare Provider

During my year in Melbourne I worked as a casual in various childcare centers and temp nanny roles, however in June I was offered positions with more regular hours, with 2 families as a sole charge nanny. I worked 3 days per week with a 3.5-year-old boy, 19-month old girl and a newborn baby boy. My responsibilities include all childcare related duties, housekeeping and assisting the mum and existing children to adjust to their new addition. I was sole-charge nanny for all 3 children on many occasions as well as assisted their mum in the day to day smooth running of the household. I also worked 1 day per week with 3.5 year old twin boys. In this instance I was a sole charge nanny and was responsible for all aspects of the boy’s care and development. I left both roles as we moved to an area 1 hour away from the families.

2010 - 2013
Perth, Australia
Private Childcare Provider

During my studies in Perth I was a part-time/ad-hoc babysitter and nanny for various families throughout Perth. Most of the children were in the newborn to 10 year old age group. I have experience in all aspects of early years childcare including but not limited to; feeding/weaning, preparing age appropriate meals, baby food preparation, nappy changing, routine implementation and maintenance, developmental activity planning, homework assistance, outings and activities and all other age specific childcare duties. I also did some casual shifts at a daycare center in Perth before moving to Melbourne, so I know how long daycare works; I am familiar with the Early Years Learning Framework and other legislation relating to childcare. It was during this time that discovered that I love working with children and wanted to go forward with a career as an early education professional.
