Employment

About Me...

I have a passion for childcare. I am very down to earth and quickly connect with children. My aim is always to establish a relationship layered with trust, respect and compassion with all the children I care for. I have a high level of patience and I enjoy engaging with and teaching children. I am experienced in soccer, basketball, tennis, gymnastics, dance, ice-skating, hockey, skiing, swimming and diving.
I love keeping the children busy with educational as well as fun, physical activities. I am a good communicator and like to keep parents involved with updates and pictures. My goal is to provide a well organised, and fun environment for the children to thrive in and an environment that the parents can feel confident their children are well taken care of. My approach to childcare, as in life, is positive, with a healthy sense of humour and an ability to adapt.

I am originally from the United States and arrived in Australia in January 2019. I was on a 12 month visa to work and holiday in Australia which I havew opted to extend. After my time here, I definitely want to stay as long as possible! I have two references from USA that mentioned they are more than happy to be available to speak to potential employers here in Australia. I also just finished a short-term employment with a family here in Australia and she is happy to speak with you to verify my skill sets.

I have more than 5 years of experience in caring for children of all ages including your children's ages. My last position involved taking care of a 15 month old baby, Kathleen, in Golden, Colorado and assisting with the care of her older brother (12 yr). Her parents really appreciated my willingness to engage in the library and local community toddler activities. The interaction and socialisation with other toddlers measurably contributed to Kathleen's development. After my 8 hours with Kathleen I would nanny with another family who's children were 5 and 7. I would pick up the children from school and care for them until dinner time. Very often they would each have a friend over, so I am used to supervising 4-5 primary school aged children at a time.

All my employers, including my most recent, have been happy with my work and have often complimented me on my expertise in engaging with their children. I completed a CPR and First Aid training course before I took my first job as a nanny in 2011 and am currently in the process of updating my certification here in Australia. My Working With Children Check is up to date and my verification number is listed on my resume. I am also ServSafe certified which is a certification I acquired during my management role in the Food Service/Event Planning industry. This certification means I am educated and have been certified in proper food handling, preparation, safety and food borne illnesses.

I have a valid driving licence and clear driving record.

My 7 years of experience in this field and my education make me an ideal candidate for the position. I am self-motivated, organised and like to anticipate my employer's needs. I know how difficult it is for parents to have time away from their children so I ensure to keep them involved and as up to date as possible. I am sporty, outdoorsy and crafty so I love coming up with a variety of activities to keep the kids' bodies and minds active. My extensive restaurant and management experience equips me to become an integral and reliable part of the family’s day to day routine. I enjoy cooking and can provide age appropriate, nutritious and enjoyable meals.

I have a friendly and pleasing demeanour with a sense of humour that allows me to truly connect with the children. I am above all honest, reliable and respectful.

I am looking forward to speaking with you further regarding my application.
