About Guardian Watsonia Childcare and Education

Welcome to Guardian Childcare & Education Watsonia, formerly Watsonia Early Learning Centre. In our modern, purpose-built early learning centre, our diverse team of Educators creates a nurturing environment where children’s growth and learning is celebrated at every step from our nursery rooms through to our government-funded Flying Start to School kindergarten program. We’re proud of our centre, and we believe this is the best childcare in Watsonia.

Guardian’s exclusive To BE Me program creates a unique learning adventure for every child. It demonstrates clearly how play connects to learning and development, offering families new insights and a lifelong record of these important years.

The Victorian Government offers funding to provide families up to 15 hours of Free Kindergarten a week, in addition to the Childcare Subsidy. The funding offsets the fees for three and four-year-old children that are part of the centre’s long day care Kindergarten program. Families will save up to $2,101 a year for children aged three-years-old and above in eligible long day cares in 2026.

We understand how big those first steps into childcare are, and our Baby Ambassador and expert Nursery team is here to make the transition calm and reassuring for both you and your baby.

By focusing on Nutrition for Life, Guardian gives families peace of mind, knowing their children are developing habits that can set them up for a future of exposure to different foods, good eating patterns and healthy eating. Our qualified cook / chef provides 5 healthy foods every day from our in-house kitchen.

Families trust us to provide safe childcare with the highest standards of safety and care in our centre.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

To BE Me is Guardian’s exclusive learning program specifically designed for each age and stage of your child’s early years.

The program includes resources and tools that support learning and make it easy to see your child’s progress along Learning and Development Pathways.

It groups your child’s learning into seven areas to help you see this progress clearly. Each of these areas has behaviours or skills that are generally linked to each age and stage.

Children receive their own My Learning and Development Book, which is updated regularly with their progress.

To BE Me is underpinned by Guardian’s world class teaching program that has been developed over many years of research and thousands of hours observing how children develop.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

We believe in nutrition for life, supporting children to develop healthy eating habits from an early age. Qualified Chefs and Cooks in our centres create fresh and nutritious meals each day, using seasonal, high-quality ingredients that align with Australian Dietary Guidelines.

Meals are designed to be delicious, introduce children to diverse flavours, and make eating healthy food a positive experience.

Managing allergies and intolerances is part of how we keep mealtimes safe and enjoyable. Every child’s needs are carefully tracked, meals are supervised by permanent educators, and allergens are strictly controlled.

Beyond providing wholesome food, we use mealtimes as learning opportunities. Children practice independence by serving themselves and engaging in conversations about food, building confidence and understanding of healthy choices.

Such a disappointing fall from 5 stars to 1. 2 years ago this centre was welcoming, friendly and caring environment and staff. Over the past year there have been many staff leave and families, not now and then they have been 6 at a time which rings alam bells for other families. There were some fantastic staff that looked like they had the whole world on their shoulders and just trying to get through the day and then other staff that gave the impression of zero interest and often weren't even aware of what was happening at their feet. I witnessed and heard of many kids getting hurt by other kids and not being seen or dealt with my own son included. I saw front desk staff berating other staff at front reception desk several times and talking about parents as they went out the front door. What used to be light, airy and fun ended up with a dark cloud hanging over it.

UPDATE 27/2: An investigation has begun Honest review from a former parent We chose this centre with hope and excitement, but unfortunately, our experience over time became increasingly concerning — and ultimately led us to unenrol our children. Why we left: We felt our kids were not being properly supervised or cared for on a daily basis, which was distressing as parents. There was an incident where one of our boys got hurt and, in our view, it was not investigated or communicated appropriately by management. For any care centre, transparency and follow-up on incidents should be a priority — we didn’t see that here. There were times we observed children being placed in the wrong age room due to staffing/shifts/numbers, which didn’t feel safe or appropriate. Over the period we were enrolled, many of the experienced and good educators left the centre (some without clear replacements), and it felt like the remaining team became more stressed and less cohesive. This contributed to what we found to be a toxic atmosphere at times — something that eroded our confidence in the consistency of care. We want to emphasise that we did meet some lovely individual educators who genuinely cared about the children — their efforts were real and often went above and beyond. But overall, the service felt like it had declined since the centre was taken over by the larger organisation, and the quality we were seeking wasn’t what we experienced. We hope this feedback helps other parents make informed choices, and we truly hope the centre addresses these issues so that all families feel confident and reassured.

We are so incredibly happy with this childcare centre! We haven’t had any issues with high turnover with staff or new/unfamiliar faces! Both my 2yo and 3yo have been with other centres and never wanted to go but now they come happy and smiling and in particular we love our kinder 1 room educator Shae! She is a standout! The management team are approachable and welcoming and work with you to make sure your needs are met. I truely have felt confident and comfortable leaving my children here everyday as opposed to other centres in the area. The staff make such a huge effort to post photos every single day on Storypark.. The communication is really outstanding and seeing the amount of activities the kids do daily is great and how engaging the staff are with my kids has been the best experience. I am definitely happy and strongly recommend this centre! I have kids in the toddler room and kinder 1.

Response from the owner 13 Nov 2025

Thank you, Kayla, for your detailed and heartfelt feedback. We’re thrilled to hear how happy and settled your children are and that you’ve felt confident and comfortable leaving them in our care. Your recognition of Shae is so appreciated! We’ll be sure to share your kind words with her. It’s wonderful to know the management team’s supportive approach has made a positive impact, and that the daily StoryPark updates and engaging activities have helped you feel connected to your children’s learning. Thank you for your strong recommendation and for trusting us with your family. We’re so glad you’re part of our community!
