About Goodstart Early Learning Mackay - Bridge Road

Welcome to Goodstart Mackay – Bridge Road, where children explore, discover and grow through play in a supportive, community-connected environment. Conveniently located close to the city, schools, hospital and airport, our purpose-built centre offers engaging learning spaces across two buildings for children from nursery through to kindergarten.

Our centre is designed to support every stage of early learning, with play-based environments tailored to each child’s interests, strengths and development. Our government-funded Kindergarten program supports a confident transition to school, complemented by strong school readiness initiatives including visits to local prep classrooms.

Children benefit from recently upgraded outdoor spaces featuring a bike track, sandpits, forts, swings and natural play areas. These environments encourage exploration, creativity and physical development, while hands-on experiences such as gardening and caring for chickens help children build responsibility, confidence and a connection to the natural world.

Each day, children are supported through play-based learning aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework, building social, emotional and cognitive skills in meaningful ways. Our educators take the time to understand each child, creating personalised learning experiences that support growth and independence.

Strong family partnerships are at the heart of our centre, with regular communication through Storypark and opportunities for families to connect through events and celebrations.

Families often tell us they value our engaging environments, caring educators and strong sense of community. Book a tour today to meet our team and discover how your child can learn, grow and thrive with us.

Curriculum and programs

Curriculum and programs

The educators at Goodstart Early Learning follow an evidence-based curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Informed by world-leading research, practices and techniques, the curriculum encourages the children’s natural curiosity and engages them in their learning journey.

As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.

The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Most importantly, the children learn through play, developing social skills, confidence and independence in addition to more formal academic skills.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.

The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.

The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.

Meet the team

The educators hold relevant qualifications, including the Kindergarten and Preschool Program teachers who are university qualified. The educators are lifelong learners, participating in regular and ongoing professional development to enhance their skills. They are encouraged to upskill, learning about the latest research and thinking in the sector. They can then bring this knowledge back to the centre to share with their colleagues for the benefit of the children.

My 10 mo attends, the care she receives is incredible. Educators treat all children amazingly and their love for their job is very obvious.

We couldn’t be happier with Goodstart Bridge Road! From the moment you walk in, the environment is incredibly welcoming—it truly feels like an extension of home. The educators are warm, confident, and clearly passionate about what they do, which gives us so much peace of mind every day. The centre itself is beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and always clean and comfortable. You can tell a lot of care has gone into creating a safe and engaging space for the children to learn and grow. What stands out most is how genuinely valued our children feel. The educators take the time to understand each child as an individual, and it shows in the way they interact with them—kind, patient, and attentive. My two kids are always happy to go and come home full of stories about their day and happy. It’s such a relief knowing our children are not only safe, but also nurtured and cared for like they are at home. Highly recommend to any family looking for a supportive and loving childcare environment!
