Curriculum and programs

Curriculum and programs

The educators at Goodstart Early Learning follow an evidence-based curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Informed by world-leading research, practices and techniques, the curriculum encourages the children’s natural curiosity and engages them in their learning journey.

As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.

The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Most importantly, the children learn through play, developing social skills, confidence and independence in addition to more formal academic skills.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.

The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.

The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.

Meet the team

The centre employs people who are empathetic and compassionate, with a nurturing disposition and a passion for care. Working collaboratively as a team, the educators display qualities such as positivity, kindness and, most importantly, a desire to help every child thrive.

The educators hold relevant qualifications, including the Kindergarten and Preschool Program teachers who are university qualified. The educators are lifelong learners, participating in regular and ongoing professional development to enhance their skills. They are encouraged to upskill, learning about the latest research and thinking in the sector. They can then bring this knowledge back to the centre to share with their colleagues for the benefit of the children.

Our son loves going to Goodstart! Their nursery team is fantastic. They have their own chefs on site who prepare delicious, healthy meals for the kids every day. The garden is lovely and the kids get to spend lots of time outside. We’re happy with Goodstart!

We absolutely love Goodstart Sheidow Park on Hutt Close and have been proud members of its community for several years. The staff are always warm and welcoming, and because of the centre’s small and intimate size, our children have built deep, meaningful relationships with their educators. The outdoor yard is stunning and beautifully connected to nature, making it a perfect for kids who love being outside. What sets this centre apart is that it genuinely feels like a family. The one-on-one relationships built between children and educators are something you simply don’t find at larger centres. If you’re looking for a place where your child will be known, loved, and truly cared for, we couldn’t recommend it more highly!

Thank you for your wonderful review, Maggie! We’re so grateful for your continued support over the years and for being such a valued part of our centre community. It’s lovely to hear how much you value the close relationships your children have built with our educators and staff, and the warm, welcoming environment we strive to create each day. We’re also so pleased you enjoy our outdoor space and the connection to nature it offers, as this is such an important part of children’s early learning experiences. Creating a place where every child is known, valued and truly cared for is at the heart of everything we do, and we truly appreciate your kind recommendation.

Where do I begin! After a tour of this centre, I knew this would be the right type of care for our child. The staff are so welcoming and approachable and took the time to get to know my child’s needs and interests. My child has since built positive relationships with her educators and peers and transitioned well into each of the rooms. The continuity of educators and their passion and care played a huge role in this. The play based learning program is fantastic and incorporates my child’s interests and family feedback. The outdoor space is amazing! Staff are great at communicating via Storypark, phone call and at drops off/pick ups. My second child is starting here soon, and just like with my first, I feel completely at ease leaving him in their care, knowing he will be safe and cared for.

Thank you for your beautiful and thoughtful review, Gemma. We’re so pleased to hear your family has had such a positive experience from your very first visit and that you felt confident in your choice from the beginning. It’s wonderful to know our educators and staff have taken the time to understand your child’s needs and interests, helping her build strong, positive relationships and transition so smoothly between rooms. We’re especially glad you value the continuity of our team, the play based learning experiences and the strong communication with families. Knowing you feel completely at ease as your second child begins their journey with us means so much. Thank you for your trust and for taking the time to share your experience.
