We have been at Expeditions Underwood for a while now and we are really happy, especially under the current management. The centre has had its ups and downs like all centres do - staff turnover is everywhere in early learning right now, but the focus here has always stayed on the children.

What matters most to us is that our little one is safe, settled, loved and truly flourishing. my daughter is so happy to go in the morning and comes home learning something new every day.

The program is engaging with water park, swimming and art studio, centre is clean and well organised, and communication via Storypark is great. Management is very understanding, approachable and on top of everything.
We feel completely confident sending our child here without any worries. Highly recommend to any family in Underwood!

Best childcare in Underwood! We have two kids here, including our baby who just started at 7 weeks old. I was so nervous leaving a newborn but the staff in the nursery are absolutely amazing - so caring, professional and loving. They give us daily updates and photos and I feel 100% at ease. Highly recommend Expeditions Underwood to any family. 5 stars!

I enrolled both of my children at Expeditions a year ago, and initially, our experience was absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately, over the past five months, since Lesley left her position as director, I have noticed a significant decline in the centre.
There has been a concerning number of staff departures, and the centre appears to have been experiencing ongoing staffing shortages for approximately four months now.As a parent, this is extremely disappointing and worrying. Consistency and stability are so important for young children, and I want my children to feel secure and comfortable with familiar educators who they can build strong relationships with.
It is upsetting to now be questioning whether I should remove my children from a centre that we once loved and trusted. I genuinely believe the owner needs to step in, address the ongoing staffing issues and take the necessary steps to restore the quality of care and stability that the centre was once known for.

As a parent, I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Expedition Underwood and with how much the centre appears to have changed over time.

I have noticed a significant amount of educator turnover, with five educators leaving in under two months. As a parent, that level of change is concerning. I worry about the impact this has on the children. Consistency and familiar relationships are incredibly important in early childhood. When educators are continually changing, staffing is inconsistent and educators are spending a significant amount of time managing challenging behaviours, it is difficult to feel confident that children are receiving the level of engagement, teaching and support they should be.

The centre promotes itself as providing a child-safe, engaging and educational environment, including bush kindy, excursions, water play and strong community involvement. These are not offered. This does not align with price vs value.

My biggest concern as a parent is around child safety and behaviour management:
1. The two front entry points are constantly open, including the glass gate and front door, left open during busy drop-off and pick-up periods. I find this concerning and it makes me uncomfortable as a parent.
2. There have also many instances my child has shared they have been hit, pushed and other aggressive behaviour. I have personally been told that, due to child safety requirements, certain behaviours cannot be addressed and that parents essentially need to accept them. I found this particularly concerning.

I have also been disappointed by the centre's events and activities this year. Mother's Day and Father's Day felt very limited compared with what I had previously experienced. The sense of community and effort around these occasions does not feel the same as it did previously. Book Week was particularly disappointing for me.

The organisation of school photographs was another disappointment. Parents were given unclear or half information about the photo days. There was also conflicting information about whether a run sheet would be provided. A number of children subsequently missed their photographs and now require make-up photos (so unorganised and poorly managed). I also recently saw a parent asking about an updated class photograph and being directed to contact the photographer themselves. As a parent, I would expect the centre to be able to provide clear information about an event organised through the centre and to assist families not ask them to contact the provider.

What makes all of this particularly disappointing is that it doesn't feel like one isolated issue. Expedition Underwood was not always like this, which is perhaps the most disappointing part for me. I am comparing my current experience with what I previously experienced at the centre, and the difference is significant.

We are very happy with Expeditions Early Learning Journey. The educators are caring, supportive and genuinely passionate about the children. The environment is welcoming, safe and engaging, and the children are given many opportunities to learn, explore and build confidence through play.
The communication with families is also wonderful, and we really appreciate the effort the team puts into creating a positive experience for children and families. Highly recommended

Amazing childcare centre! We are so happy we found the right place for our son. As a bilingual child, he was made to feel so welcomed and included, and his transition was incredibly smooth. The staff and educators are hardworking, caring, and genuinely connect with the children. We truly appreciate all the love and support they give our son❤️
