I've been working as a gardener there for the past 6 months and it has been a great experience. The vision and passion behind the centre is really unique and you can see the effect it has on the kids who love being part of the community. They are encouraged to grow, learn and participate in a safe and supportive environment with educators who really care about bringing their best to the space. What's amazing to see for me as a gardener is the emphasis Pachamama has on engagement with nature... the children can't wait to get outside everyday and explore. They love feeding the chickens and the parrots, and they are keen to get in the garden with me looking after the plants. They are learning to love their local place, and take ownership in caring for it. I've seen how the children not only form great relationships with each other and the educators, but also the environment around them. It's a beautiful place with amazing trees, wildlife and sculptures... so much thought and care has been put into the environment and you can see how much this impacts both the staff and the children positively. I myself have felt my mental health improve working in the space. Over the past six months I've seen first hand how much effort, love and care the staff put into what they do... and I would recommend Pachamama to anyone in the area looking for a community for their kids. I am also proud to say that my little girl is lucky enough to attend Pachamama too. My family and I have recently moved here from overseas. Back in Norway, I worked at a daycare centre where nature and play were the main focus of their pedagogical approach, which resonated with me. I was looking for somewhere similar in Perth and was fortunate to find Pachamama. As a team member, I can only talk about how positively this decision has impacted my life. From the moment I stepped into the centre, I was embraced by a warm, collaborative community. My colleagues are not just coworkers but became my friends and mentors, guiding me through the ins and outs of early childhood care with patience and wisdom. The management team is incredibly supportive and flexible, always encouraging professional development and fostering a culture where every team member felt valued and heard. We are constantly rewarded for our hard work and efforts - including incentives like team building events, catered professional development and even things like AirBnB stays. It is fulfilling and reassuring to know that my daily efforts contribute significantly to children’s development and growth. The biggest daily reward I have is being able to watch the children learn, grow, and reach milestones, which gives me a personal sense of purpose. All of this, of course, would be impossible without an amazing team where everyone pulls together to create a nurturing environment for the kids. Unlike previous daycare jobs, I feel seen, I feel heard and I feel appreciated. The physical environment, full of art and nature, makes Pachamama really feel like a home away from home. It is a safe, secure, cosy, comfortable and inviting space for staff, the kids and their families. It’s is a great location tucked away in the hills where it feels like being in the middle of a forrest. There is also a little menagerie including parrots, chickens, guinea pigs and rabbits which adds to the colour of our daily routine. If you are looking for a highly professional yet homely daycare, one that as is vibrant as it is educational, full of warmth and hard workers, and one that will provide great memories for one and all, I cannot recommend Pachamama enough. It is commonly know throughout the early education sector that the environment is the third teacher. How true this is, especially in an environment like Pachamama! As I leave my car each morning and walk across the bridge to the top of the steps, I am still amazed at the scenery. The beautiful trees and the sounds of running water greet me every morning regardless of the season. Don't even get me started on the insides of both our beautiful buildings. From the eclectic furniture to the fine finishing details of the lights, and art work no detail has been spared. But the best part of heading through the gate each morning are the greetings I receive from not only the educators, but also the children. If often takes me 10 or more minutes just to get to my desk as I am called to stop and look at what someone has made with the blocks, drawn at the table, or just telling me about the book they are reading at that moment. As Senior Operations Manager, I also have the privilege of showing perspective families around the AC and get to talk about what I love, Pachamama, of course! I often hear the comment from parents, " Forget the kids, can I stay instead?" One of my most satisfying roles is creating the Holiday Program. With the unwavering support from the Director, Kristen, the CEO, Andrew, and the Executive Centre Manager, Rocky, I can listen to the children's ideas for excursions and themed days and in most instances, make it happen. From spending the day on Rottnest Island, Surfing lessons, Koala visits, Meraki Boho Art incursions, trips to the theatre, and Indoor skydiving, well, the sky's the limit! The children often comment that they feel listened to and that their thoughts, and ideas are valued enough to know that if We can make it happen for them, we will! I can plan the best activities, but without the best team of Educators on the floor making it happen each and every day I know that the program would not be the huge success that it has been and will be in the future. Thank you to the best team I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Each and every one of you are the reason I have stayed for 5 years now, and am looking forward to the next 5. Read more
