We are so grateful our little girl got into Planet. It has had a very real impact on her in such formative years. The director Susie is a wonderful human being. She has a naturally calm, intelligent and caring manner that inspired both love and respect from the children. Under her leadership the wonderful staff take a socially and environmentally conscious approach to early childhood education that really resonates with children and parents alike.
Planet is a privately owned, purpose built service located on the Northern Beaches of Wollongong that has been in operation since 1997. We have two rooms; a preschool room for 2 and 3 year olds, and a Transition to School room which is best suited for children who are 4 and 5 years of age and are preparing for school. We believe that children learn through play and we provide the children with many opportunities to explore and engage with their environment.
Planet is located above the Coledale Rock pools so we have a very strong focus on respecting the Marine Environment and Sustainability. Our Director is on the Board of Directors of the Surfrider Foundation Australia; this translates strongly through our Educational program as we discover and explore the beach and grassy park areas located immediately in front of our service.
We have a close relationship with the Coledale Primary School and as part of our program, we take the children to the school to their 'Living Classroom' garden and Eco ponds. We believe that children learn best 'outside of the fence' and take many opportunities to extend the children's learning by going on excursions within our local community.
