Bachelor of Teaching - Early Childhood Teacher
I am the Owner/ Director of Appleseed Childcare since 2010, and have been mananging Childcare centres and working in the Early Childhood Industry for 21 years.
Our service provides a wonderful place for children to learn and grow, suppoprting children to develop their social and emotional skills, communication and language skills, independance and readiness for Kindergarten. I pride myself on managing a great team of educators who are dedicated to building quality relationships with families and providing a clean, safe and fun learning environment for all children. and Throughout these last 14 years in Epping we have built a
We look forward to showing you through our centre and building a great relationship with yourself and your child.
Appleseed Childcare is a place of fun, love, games, stories, songs, play and imagination – but behind all of our activities is a guiding program of Early Childhood Education and Development.
Our Early Childhood Educators are fully qualified, very experienced and extremely dedicated to their roles - many have been with Appleseed since it opened in 2010.
We truely value continuity of care and know how important consistency is in a young child's life - which is why we our team is only made of of all permanent part-time and full-time educators. We employee regular permanent float educators which enables us to refrain from using "casual" or "agency" educators. This means that your child will always know and be familiar with every educator in the service!
We are a small service - with only 49 children in attendance each day and our enrolled families stay with us from nursery to preschool. What this means is that your child isn't just a number or another face in the crowd! We are so proud of the tight-knit service we provide - with each educator knowing every child, regardless of room or age group, individually. For your child, it provides them an additional sense of belonging and security.
Our service highly values continued professional learning and development - we hold regular professional development training and a high number of our Educators are furthering their own individal studies.
We know that the early years of life are the most important for learning - with 90% of a child's brain development occuring in the first 5 years of a child's life. This time is when the foundations for future learning is laid.
Programs
Programs
Our play-based Educational Plans are designed to create a stimulating, flexible environment where children can explore their surroundings whilst they develop physically, emotionally and intellectually.
We provide a balance of indoor and outdoor activities that offer variety throughout the day. During indoor play, children have many experiences in learning areas with a variety of resources.
Project-based learning is a way for children to be involved in their own learning. We use different types of formats to gather and display children’s voices and their ideas about a topic including what they know and what they would like to learn. We then use this information to plan activities and learning spaces to provide the children with a range of learning experiences. Our projects are displayed on our walls, our online portal is updated regularly and each child has a portfolios containing all your child’s individual records.
Educational Plans (each with a goal) are displayed in each room and use the Early Years Learning Framework as a foundation for children’s learning. These plans are reguarly reflected on and evaluated to ensure children are progressing towards the planned goals and help to decide what will continue. Our plans incorporate children’s interests, intentional teaching, family events and cultural experiences.
Throughout the year we cover many important learning areas such as dental health, road safety, child protection etc. Special days and theme days are celebrated in the centre and each year we choose a charity organisation to which we raise money and donate goods.
Our aim is to prepare each child to their fullest potential in preparation for formal schooling.
Our preschool program is led by University qualified Early Childhood Teachers and fosters children’s development and school readiness through play experiences, spontaneous play and guided learning experiences.
Our high quality preschool program is aimed to ensure a smooth transition to formal schooling and our program is designed to assist children to:
- Feel secure and confident.
- Understand routines and practices within their own environment.
- Develop self-regulation.
- Develop friendships and learn new skills from others.
- Work collaboratively with others, practicising diversity and respect for all.
- Have an understanding of pre literacy skills, reading/ recognising/ writing letters of the alaphabet, understanding the sounds of letters and, recognising and writing their name.
- Number recognition, counting forward and backward, writing numbers and using mathematics in everday play and practices.
- Set high expectations for their own learning through play based and open ended projects.
- Face challenges in a positive way
- Refine and develop fine and gross motor skills.
- Be creative and direct their own learning.
- Explore and discover the world around them.
Centre philosophy
Centre philosophy
Our centre promotes a safe, loving environment where children feel secure and valued, and the rights of children are promoted and respected. We believe children are unique individuals and provide enriching, meaningful opportunities for them to explore and develop.
Through high-quality teaching and learning experiences, we promote independence, curiosity and exploration, where children are encouraged to learn as individuals. As early childhood professionals, we understand that children grow and develop at different ages/stages and support each child’s developmental abilities.
At Appleseed Childcare we promote social justice through activities that are without bias towards gender or culture. Our routines are flexible and a wide range of activities are planned to provide inclusion and support for children with additional needs or linguistic backgrounds.
Educators work together with specialists and families to support children with additional needs. We encourage children to show respect for the natural environment and also promote equality for children with different backgrounds and abilities.
Health and Nutrition
Health and Nutrition
Our chef prepares a nutritious and delicious morning tea, hot lunch and afternoon tea. The meals are designed to give the kids the fuel they need for a big day of playing, learning and growing.
Children are encouraged to try new things but there is always a favourite to fall back on. Special dietary restrictions and requirements are, of course, acknowledged and catered for.

Thank you to all the staff at Appleseed daycare for making my son feels like he is in his 2nd home every day ❤️. What sets you apart from other places are the level of care that you give to our child every day, your clean facility and your amazing educators. My son thrives at your day care, eats very well and has made a lot of friends (often doesn't want to leave during pick up time! Haha). He also has developed well in all aspects including, academically, emotially and socially. Your educators are also top notched. They are very attentive to what our child's needs, genuine and very nurturing! We are very lucky to be part of Appleseed family ❤️ Read more

We enrolled our child in this childcare centre due to its reputation. However, it was so disappointed because the director and room educators did not show respect at all. They complained our child being a naughty boy in front of us and my child on a couple of occasions and never greeted us and my child in the morning. We thought ok maybe my child was a bit naughty at daycare, so we tried to work it out at home with him and told him to behave. However, the lack of respect and patience to my child is so inappropriate. The educators need to teach, remind and encourage children rather than simply blaming him. We decided to change a daycare centre and we found his behavior is quite different and we rarely received complaints. He made new friends and settled well. If you want to let your loved child stay in such environment, please go ahead. Otherwise, I suggest you thinking it twice because it took us a year of waiting time to move to another centre. My son goes here 5 days a week, he is excited to go each day and is filled with joy at the end of every day. My husbands older children went here when they were little, their photos are still on the wall. Appleseed is my sons second family. He is loved by all the educators and you know he loves them when you see the smile on his face each morning and he runs in for a big good morning cuddle. The activities and education are 5 star, the food is amazing and the whole place is filled with love, joy and care from the moment you walk in the door! Thank you Appleseed for loving and caring for my boy! Read more

They are very supportive to our child, it’s evident that staff all care about the children, any staff whom have had a chat with can tell us what skills and how our child is progressing. Our baby started her journey with Appleseed when she was 12month old, now she daughter tells us about how much fun she has at Appleseed and tells us all of the educators’ and friends’ names. She even tells us she misses her friends at childcare when we were on holidays and she likes the beginning of each week because she gets to go Appleseed and see her friends. Read more

I visited a handful of childcare centres before we decided to go with Appleseed Childcare. The centre manager Kim and the educators were very informative when I did the tour and answered my list of questions. Their standard of cleanliness, efficient communication and level of care for the kids were the main reasons we chose this centre. My child likes the delicious food Ms Alice cooks everyday and she likes to play with her friends. She started a little shy and the educators are so supportive and caring which has made her more confident and now she takes care of other little kiddies because she learns from the best caring grownups. All the staff know us by name and always in positive vibe. It’s a great happy environment for the little ones and my daughter looks forward to Appleseed days each week. Read more

My kids are currently attending Appleseed childcare and they have thrived in this warm and caring environment. I can see that the educators genuinely care about my kids by how my kids have bonded with his educators. My second son actually prefers one of the educators over his own father 😂. My older loves the freshly made meals they get and looks forward each day to asking what’s for lunch. I especially love the thoughtful gifts and crafts keepsakes that my children made for us during occasions like mother’s and Father’s Day. Would highly recommend Appleseed to parents in the area. When I see the smile on my daughter’s face and hear her talk about her educators and her little friends at daycare, I know we’ve made the right decision to send her to Appleseed. It took a bit of time for her to get used to the new environment and people as she was too little when we sent her, but now she loves and enjoys going to Applessed. The educators in her room are very caring! We were also suprised by how much new words and things she learnt fr the daycare. Thank you to the entire team at Appleseed! Read more
