Our service is designed to inspire curiosity and creativity in every child. From our purpose-built outdoor areas to the engaging, hands-on activities, we offer children a space where they can play, explore, and grow.
Dedicated Outdoor Spaces: Each room has direct access to its own outdoor area, meaning children can move freely between indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the day. The open-door policy allows for constant exploration and sensory stimulation.
Messy Sensory Play: We encourage children to get messy! With mud pits, water fountains they can turn on and off, and creative sensory play, we make sure that fun and learning go hand-in-hand.
Freedom of Choice: Children are given the freedom to choose where they want to play and what activities they want to engage in. This fosters independence and decision-making skills while ensuring they feel in control of their learning.
Sibling Play Time: At Story House, siblings can play together during the day, strengthening family bonds and providing children with familiar faces throughout their learning journey.
Community Connections: Our excursions are designed to connect children with their local community. Whether it’s a walk around the neighbourhood or a trip to the local café for baby chinos, we’re building ties with the world around us.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

We believe in creating a close-knit, supportive community where both children and parents feel valued. Here’s why families choose us:
Personalised Care and Communication: We take the time to engage with families beyond just education. We have real conversations about your child’s life and needs, ensuring that care is personalised and meaningful.
Orientation with Heart: Our orientations are relaxed and thorough, allowing families to take their time exploring the premises, meeting our team, and asking questions. Our educators sit in on every orientation to help families feel comfortable and supported from the very beginning.
Regular Updates & Communication: Parents appreciate the regular updates we provide via our ‘Story Park’ app - meaning families can stay connected throughout the day. Live routines and photos help you feel involved in your child’s experiences.

Healthy, Delicious Food at Mooroolbark
Just like any quality restaurant kitchen, ours is fully equipped and run to the highest standards with our chefs holding up-to-date food safety certifications to ensure every meal is prepared with care and compliance. All meals are thoughtfully planned to align with Australian nutrition guidelines, ensuring every bite supports healthy growth and development. Our skilled chef leads interactive cooking classes tailored to each age group, encouraging children to discover new flavours and learn new skills. Children enjoy a variety of foods while gaining confidence in the kitchen. As part of our commitment to fostering healthy habits and a love for fresh food, all Story House services have introduced the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program (SAKGP). This hands-on initiative connects children with growing, harvesting, preparing and sharing fresh, seasonal food. By getting involved in every step of the process, from garden to plate, children learn valuable life skills, develop respect for the environment, and build a deeper appreciation for nutritious food in a fun, practical way.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

STRONG Beginnings Curriculum: We believe every child’s learning journey is unique. That is why our highly qualified teaching teams customise Story House’s STRONG Beginnings Curriculum to each individual child’s learning and development needs. Our learning approach is based on educational research where every day your child can develop 21st-century skills being prepared for school and life. This tailored approach nurtures children’s learning and growth as they develop skills such as socialisation, emotional regulation, building resilience, and understanding the importance of caring for their body and brain through our mindfulness and nutrition programs.

Play-based Learning
Children are inspired to be curious through our inquiry learning approach, where they will naturally explore, wonder, question, and make sense of the world around them.

Pathway to School
Our 3-year-old Kindergarten and 4-year-old Pre-Prep programs nurture young learners as they gain confidence, make decisions, and develop emotional strength and social connections. Children learn to collaborate, problem-solve, and express themselves while building key skills in literacy, numeracy, and communication. They also explore healthy choices, personal responsibility, and creative thinking in an engaging and supportive environment.

We provide inquiry-based curriculum through play - across exciting learning areas, including:
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths)
Language and Literacy
Active and Involved Citizens
Nature Play and Sustainability
The Arts
Health and Wellbeing

With a balance of small and whole-group experiences, both indoors and outdoors, children are encouraged to wonder, discover, and grow - preparing them for a bright future ahead!
