March 3, 2021
Welcome, this week how properly funded child care supports greater equity for women. Also, author Susann Hoffmann explains the thinking behind her groundbreaking new books. Plus, your chance to win one of FIVE book packs!
How child care supports greater gender equality
Early childhood education and care (ECEC) opens up a world of opportunity for families.

Young children are supported to learn, parents are freed up to work, and although all things aren't yet equal in education and employment, ECEC does move girls, boys, women and men in a positive direction.

Here, we see what gender equality means for all people, and explain how ECEC services support efforts to create a gender equal world.
2 new picture books that challenge gender stereotypes
Gone are the days when fairy wings were just for girls and trucks were toys for boys.

In this modern age, your under five is encouraged to wear what they like and play as they please, and Susann Hoffmann has created two picture books that empower children to rock that tutu, ride that skateboard and live their best life – free of gender assumptions.

I Can Wear Anything! and I Can Play With Anything! combine colour and fun with an important message, and to learn more, we spoke with Susann herself.
