6 unique ways to thank your child care provider
The end of the year is almost upon us, and that means it's time to start thinking about the best way to thank your child care provider for the incredible hard work they have put in across the year.

Rather than the typical chocolates, candles and coffee mugs that immediately spring to mind, here are a few gift ideas that they will truly love.

Movie gift box

Perfect for both male and female teachers, everyone loves a trip to the movies! Why not make a unique movie gift box to make their next trip to the big screen even more special?

Make (or buy from the dollar store) a striped popcorn box, and label it with the teacher's name. Fill it with some snacks, a thank you note and a movie gift card.

Personalised lunchbox and water bottle

Teachers have plenty of mugs, but what about the things they actually need every day? Nearly all child care providers bring their lunch to work every day, so a personalised chilled lunch bag is the perfect present. Pair it with a chic matching water bottle and your child care provider is totally ready for the new year.

A pamper hamper

Different to a Christmas hamper, a pamper hamper is a collection of everything a hardworking person actually wants, and best of all they are super easy to make. Simply pick up a nice basket from the dollar or craft store and fill it with his or her favourite things.

This could be a collection of wellness teas and organic snacks, maybe some fine coffee and some homemade cookies, or a copy of their favourite magazine with some nail varnish and favourite beauty products. Add a thank you note and decorate with ribbons.

Seedling pots

Seedlings make a truly unique gift. Try herbs, tomatoes, or small flowering plants. Plant the seedlings in small plant pots, and wrap them in decorative paper or fabric, and tie with string. Label what the seedlings are by writing on a lollipop stick and pushing into the soil, then add a personalised tag.

Homemade Christmas decoration

Nothing says thank you better than a handmade gift! And a Christmas decoration to hang on their tree each year will always happily remind them of the child that made it. Older toddlers could do a decorated bauble or fridge magnet, younger children and babies could do a clay footprint or handprint.

Sponsor a child

One of the most thoughtful gifts to give at Christmas time is to give the gift of education to a child less fortunate than us, and it's something that every child care provider would truly treasure. There are many charities that offer assistance to children living in extreme poverty and gifts can range from a small donation towards materials for an overseas school, to sponsoring a child for a month or year. If you know several of the other parents at the childcare service, you could group together to make a larger donation.
