We have had such a wonderful experience with Kin Early Learning Centre. Our little one started at just four months old and is now almost 15 months, and the growth we’ve seen has been incredible. The educators create such meaningful connections with the children, and you can truly feel the warmth, care and thoughtfulness they bring every day. We’ve noticed so much development, from learning basic baby sign language to new words, waving, clapping, blowing kisses and using gentle hands. The centre has really supported both our child and us as parents, especially in those early months when drop offs were tough. With the guidance of the educators, our little one now gets excited for morning colouring and toast. The learning environment is fabulous, beautifully set up with a Montessori approach, clean, safe and very well maintained. The attention to detail is outstanding. Our child enjoys the delicious meals cooked onsite, the engaging activities set up by the educators and the daily books and reading time. There is a great balance between learning and play, and we often see new skills at home that were introduced at the centre. The team has also helped with routines such as sleeping and introducing solids. Communication is excellent, with daily afternoon updates and additional notes throughout the day when needed. Staff are responsive, supportive and always greet us with warmth. The curriculum updates and feedback loops also give us great confidence in the leadership and quality of the program. If I had to describe Kin Early Learning Centre in three words it would be caring, supportive and safe. Sending our child here has truly been one of the best decisions we have made as parents, and I would absolutely recommend this centre to other families. Thank you, Kin ELC! Read more

I’ve been lucky enough to have my children attend Kin Early Learning Centre over the past five years, and I couldn’t speak more highly of the service. The management team consistently go above and beyond, and the educators are simply amazing. I’ve been fortunate to have some of the team look after my children in other early learning centres before Kin, but Kin truly stands out it’s the best in Queanbeyan. The care, communication, and sense of community they’ve created is second to none. Highly recommend! Read more

I am writing to raise serious concerns regarding the current practices, management, and overall culture within the service. While the majority of educators provide... I am writing to raise serious concerns regarding the current practices, management, and overall culture within the service. While the majority of educators provide excellent care and demonstrate dedication to the children and families, there are significant issues that need urgent attention. A number of educators consistently display unprofessional behavior, including a lack of boundaries when engaging with both parents and colleagues. This conduct is left unaddressed by management, creating an unhealthy workplace environment. Management has repeatedly failed to take complaints of poor care or bullying seriously. On several occasions, I have witnessed managers dismissing or even laughing at concerns raised by both staff and families. This lack of accountability undermines the trust and safety of the service. I must also draw attention to the use of derogatory and discriminatory language by a former director (and, at times, current management). For example, I have personally overheard derogatory language being used to describe things. Such language is deeply offensive, unacceptable in any workplace, and sets a dangerous precedent for workplace culture. The management structure itself is confusing and inconsistent, with staff unclear on who to report to or seek support from. There is also a clear pattern of favoritism, where opportunities and desirable shifts are consistently given to staff with personal connections to the director or to those with children, leaving others to handle less desirable responsibilities such as repeated closing shifts. This directly contradicts the service’s stated commitment to “equality” in the workplace. Furthermore, staff are often spoken to in a dismissive and condescending manner when raising concerns. Responses frequently begin with patronizing phrases such as “I’m sorry but no,” followed by explanations that lack justification. Educators are also reluctant to call in sick, as they are often met with short, irritated, or unprofessional responses from management. It appears that the owner is not fully aware of these issues and is receiving information solely from the individuals responsible for perpetuating them. This has allowed the current culture of favoritism, poor communication, and lack of accountability to continue unchecked. These matters are of serious concern and require immediate intervention. Respectfully, there must be a thorough review be conducted into the management practices, workplace culture, and handling of complaints within the service to ensure a safe, respectful, and fair environment for both staff and families.
