Halloween craft ideas
It's impossible to miss the fact that tomorrow is Halloween, Wednesday 31 October, the decorations have been up for weeks and the stores are stocked with lollies in the shape of severed hands and feet.

This spooky American celebration grows bigger each year, with increasing numbers of children and parents carving pumpkins, decorating their homes in cobwebs, dressing up and hitting the streets.

Every year we choose a selection of simple, fun and cost-effective craft ideas and activities to help you get into the Halloween spirit in your service, we hope you enjoy them:

Creepy cups – up-cycle a stack of single use plastic cups in this activity, which is quick, cost effective and simple.

Paper plate pumpkins – pumpkins are very expensive in Australia in spring! Quickly create a bumper crop with this simple activity, which is suitable for all ages.

Paper plate spiders – children who prefer spiders to pumpkins may be more interested in this project, which also employs paper plates and paint as the key ingredients.

Spider hats – these simple 'crowns', give children the chance to decorate their own friendly spider however they like. When everyone has made a hat, hold a Halloween parade!

Witches' hats – older children will enjoy this more challenging hat project and can decorate to their heart's content.

Cotton ball ghosts – it wouldn't be Halloween without ghosts. Use dismembered cotton balls and sticky glue for this straightforward project.

Pumpkin collage – fine motor skills get a great workout in this activity, which requires snipping, gluing, painting and arranging, all to great effect!

Mini rock pumpkins – rocks plus orange and black paint, that's all you need for this project!

Pumpkin sun catchers – create some Halloween themed sun catchers to hang in the windows and trees of your service.

Bat art – bats are something we do really well in Australia, and these cute collages will be fun and relevant for the children in your service.
