Welcome, this week meet Hope Skinner the founder of Nanny SheCando and learn about a new report which claims Australia is being left behind when it comes to expenditure on early childhood education and care.
Australia lagging other countries in ECEC
A new McKell Institute report shows Australia is being left behind by other developed nations that treat childcare as a vital early childhood education opportunity for all, and not simply 'babysitting' for mothers returning to the workforce.

The report, Baby Steps or Giant Strides?, authored by leading national early childhood experts from the University of New South Wales Professor Deborah Brennan and Dr Elizabeth Adamson, identifies serious flaws with the Federal Government's new childcare package, announced in the latest federal budget.

In 2013 UNSW's Professor Brennan authored the Brennan Report, which was launched and supported by the NSW Coalition Government, resulting in a $20 million injection into the state's preschools.

Hope Skinner
This month we introduce you to Nanny Extraordinaire Hope Skinner founder and director of the Australian Nanny Conference, and NANNY SHECANDO

What is your name?
My name is Hope Skinner, although, after about 4 weeks of working with my kids, they always begin to call me "Hopey". I am 24.

Which service do you work in? How many staff and children are in the service?
I'm what's formally recognised as an in-home educator, although the more commonly used term is a nanny. I work within a private home, with sole charge care of three children; a boy 18 months, and two girls 5 and 7.
