2013 checklist of what you can and can't claim and how much

If you're new to the whole child care game this year or even if you aren't, we've seen a lot of changes over the last couple of years in child care, in terms of the child care benefit, rebate, and paid parental leave and it can all be a bit confusing.

So we thought it would be useful to put together an up-to-date checklist of what, how much and when you can and can't claim the child care benefit, rebate, paid parental leave and Baby Bonus

So here we go for the basics, just so everyone's on the same page:

Child Care Benefit

  • Child care benefit is means tested. Eligible families can be earning no more than $150,000.
  • Child care benefit is only for "registered" approved child care* (which currently excludes nannies, babysitters and au pairs) and is payable for up to 50 hours child care per week.
  • Parents can claim it either as a lump sum or as reduced fees through their child care service. (continued)

Vaccination scheduler
Take some time to check it out… it could save your child's life

There are a number of vaccinations you need to make sure you get for your baby and toddler over the first four years of their life and with parent's busy schedules it's often the case that vaccinations are forgotten completely or at least overdue. But if you have an iPhone or iPad there's a new app that will help you to remember.

Vaccination Scheduler is a new app that stores all the vaccination names and recommended dates and reminds you when they're due. Once you've installed the app you simply enter two pieces of information, your child's Name and Date of Birth. The app does the rest.

It's very important to make sure you're up to date – both for the child's point of view, for the sake of their family and close friends and anyone else who comes into contact with them. It's also very important to keep up to date for when you want to enrol your child in child care or at school.

Vaccination Scheduler is the only app that sends reminders to parents about when to vaccinate. It is also the only app that lets parents send a report with their child's complete vaccination history and status directly from their phone all with the push of a button.

Go to iTunes for the iPhone app or for more info go to vaccinationscheduler.com
