About the Curriculum
About the Curriculum
“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber
Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years
Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.
Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years
Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.
On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.
Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.
Preschool Space: 3 – 6 years
Preschool is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.
The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Preschool children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.
Throughout the Preschool year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.
Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Preschool year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.
Morning
Anita is 11 months old and enjoys sensory play outside in the sandpit with her friends. She sits near her educator who helps teach her how to scoop the sand into the bucket. Anita is learning how to dig, carry, and move the sand. She is also exploring texture and learning what happens to the sand when she adds water!
Lunch
Anita has finished her lunch and is preparing to take a nap. Her educator changes her nappy, prepares a bottle and reads Anita a story before her afternoon sleep.
Afternoon
Anita and some of her nursery friends enjoy some story time and songs outside in the shaded garden. They read ‘Peepo’ which is Anita’s favourite book.
Morning
Luca is two and a half years old and loves to start his day at the centre outside on the climbing equipment. His friends join him, and together they pretend to be pirates on a ship looking for treasure. Through this exciting dramatic play, Luca is learning about himself and the world around him. Dramatic play is helping Luca identify his interests, abilities, likes and dislikes.
Lunch
Luca is watering the vegetables in the garden. By doing this, Luca is learning the importance of growing and caring for the veggies in the garden. Luca picks a tomato from the garden, which the Chef will use to help make Luca and his friend’s lunch - Spaghetti Bolognese!
Afternoon
Luca enjoys art, and today he is painting a beach scene from a recent family holiday. He adds the finishing touches and sets the painting aside to dry; so that he can take it home to share with his family.
While painting, Luca is learning how to express himself creatively and how to convey his ideas and emotions. Painting is also helping develop Luca’s hand eye coordination, finger, wrist and hand strength. Making marks on paper is important for self expression as well as later learning.
Morning
Ava is almost five years old and can’t wait for today’s carpentry experience - she loves building things! Carpentry experiences allow Ava and her friends to extend their learning through real-life experiences. While participating in carpentry, Ava is learning to problem solve, experiment and predict. She is also improving her hand eye coordination, manipulative skills and muscular strength.
Lunch
Before Ava sits down for lunch with her friends and educators, Ava takes part in the centre’s sports program. Ava loves sports. Sports helps Ava improve her flexibility and strength (perfect for growing bodies!). Sports also allows her to practice different skills in a fun and engaging way.
Afternoon
Ava is off to ‘big school’ next year and she can't wait to start! Ava and her friends will be visiting the local primary school next week. In preparation for the visit, the class is creating a list of questions to ask the Principal and school children.
Health and Nutrition
Health and Nutrition
Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.
Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Hi my name is Rochelle and I am the Centre Manager here at Prestons World of Learning. Throughout my career in early childhood education, I have been fortunate enough to find my passion and my purpose in life. I have worked in the industry just shy of 10 years, starting off as a trainee to completing my Diploma and now working towards my Bachelor of Teaching in Early Childhood. During this time, I have worked closely with families and children and been given many wonderful opportunities to grow my skills in the early childhood sector.
I am very passionate about the care and learning of children. I understand the responsibility we hold when you place your child in our care. Our team understand how important our role is in the care and education of your child and understand how much you trust us.
I believe that every child deserves the best start to life. Access to the best early years experiences allows them to grow and thrive at their own rate. I respect that each child is an individual, and encourage them to build confidence around their strengths and interests. We work hard to create an engaging learning environment where children can develop more skills each day.
It is truly a privilege to be a part of the care and learning of the future generation. I thank you for allowing me to assist with your child’s future success.

Elyana deeply values the strong and positive connection she has built with her educators, particularly Ms. Bobbie, Mr. Alfred, and Ms. Sarah. She genuinely enjoys coming to school—not only to spend time with her friends, but also because she feels supported, encouraged, and inspired by the way her teachers nurture her interests and help develop her skills in a caring and engaging environment. As a parent, I also appreciate how welcoming and accommodating the educators have been during drop-offs, consistently creating a smooth and reassuring transition for Elyana. Thank you to the entire team for your dedication, kindness, and the thoughtful way you contribute to Elyana’s growth and happiness at school. Your efforts truly make a difference. Read more

My daughter has just started here after taking her out of other care that wasn't satisfactory. From the moment I spoke to the centre, I have only had caring, positive, helpful, genuine and friendly service. The entire feel of the centre is cheerful, that's important. It shows in the kids behaviour. The staff genuinely love their job and are so natural at it. It is run very professionally and safely. It is clean and run so well. Im always kept in touch daily and communication for parents via an app or phone call or feedback when needed. I can't fault this centre. Most importantly my daughter doesn't cry when I drop her off here. She is happy, making friends and I'm so glad she is in a centre that helps her thrive and that I trust. Thankyou to the wonderful staff at Prestons World of Learning . Read more

My Granddaughter has been attending Preston’s World of Learning since she was 9 months. She has always been given 110% care, by beautiful, thoughtful, and dedicated educators. They have watched her grow and encouraged her to develop her strengths and encouraged her to develop new skills. She is now 2 1/2 years old, filled with confidence, engaging with her peers and loving attending daycare walking in giving all educators a big hello on arrival, running off to play with friends. When she does have a morning when she would prefer to stay with Mumma, or myself on drop off, the educators will squat down to her level, hold out their arms and gently ask her what she would like to do, and show her some activities that are set up. It always reassures me she is in good hands. The beauty of this Daycare is the educators take the time to know the children and can see when they are not themselves, they take the time to watch their behaviour and monitor them throughout the day to see how they are feeling. I highly recommend Prestons World of Learning everyone is truly dedicated to the children’s best interest, including the amazing chef they have. Read more
