Included in the fees are extra-curricular classes such as:

Bush Kinder Program: this program gives the children the opportunity to explore natural spaces outside of the service.

Sports & Fitness Programs: the children take part in a variety of sport and fitness activities such as Ginger Sports; all of which aim to build on their gross motor skills, social skills and coordination.

Music Program: the centre understands the importance and benefits of prompting developing speech, vocabulary, listening, and memory skills through structured and planned music lessons, facilitated through Hush Little Baby.

Cooking Program: the children are encouraged to engage in regular cooking programs, often utilising the fruits and vegetables from the centre’s own gardens.

Excursions & Incursions: the children enjoy trips outside of the centre into the local community in line with their educational program; as well as specialist incursions to help facilitate a love for new experiences.

At Avenues Early Learning Centre Murarrie, the educators place a strong emphasis on creating a warm, homely environment for the children and families and believe that a rich learning environment can only be achieved through links with both families and the wider community. They encourage family involvement along with park excursions for Kindergarten children.

The educators work with a commitment to quality early childhood education, and together with the Early Childhood Teachers and Educational leaders work collaboratively to create rich and meaningful educational experiences based on the Early Years Learning Framework and the centre philosophy.

The educators seek to make the centre feel like an extension of the children’s homes, with a warm, caring atmosphere where each child and their family feels welcome and secure and where diversity is accepted, recognised and valued. Their aim is to foster within each child an awareness and acceptance of others, developing respect for those who may be different from themselves in terms of lifestyle, abilities and culture. The educators acknowledge that parents are children’s first educators and aim to work collaboratively to develop shared goals and expectations for each child by providing an environment where connecting links with the family and the wider world are affirmed and extended. 

Underpinning the learning experiences within the centre is the fundamental belief that each child is unique, bringing to the learning environment an exclusive set of capabilities and pre-dispositions. The environment will allow children to become competent and confident learners through play that is valued and leads to meaningful learning. This emergent curriculum takes the child's interest and turns it into a learning process, acknowledging the child as a learner, but also encouraging them to share and develop their knowledge with the others in the environment. 

As early childhood educators, the team draws upon knowledge of the following documents which are used to inform their philosophy and practices: Early Years Learning Framework, Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines, National Quality Standards and Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations. Avenues Early Learning Centre will provide each child with positive attitudes towards learning, enabling them to become competent and confident learners equipped with skills for life-long learning.

I have been working with Avenues for over 15 years and in this time, I have never worked with such amazing educators. Avenues Murarrie is a unique centre offering a wide natural environment alongside a more purpose built settings. It has been a pleasure managing such high quality programs and watching how our children grow and develop as they participate with excitement. We welcome you to our centre!

The professional onsite chef at Avenues Early Learning Centre Murarrie works in conjunction with the management team and families to create a seasonal rotating menu. All food is prepared fresh daily to ensure that the centre is meeting the nutritional needs of all age groups, guided by Healthy Eating guidelines. Family input on the menu is actively sought and the chef loves to incorporate well-loved family meals and culturally diverse meals into the menu. The centre can cater to all allergy and dietary requirements and have stringent processes around ensuring that dietary requirements are supported. 

Mealtimes at Avenues Early Learning Centre Murarrie are viewed as a time for connection and nourishment. Educators encourage social connection during mealtimes, with team members supporting meaningful conversations between children. Mealtimes are an opportunity to model and support a positive disposition towards healthy eating practices and the educators teach the importance of taking care of our bodies and recognising our own hunger levels. 

The educators recognise the benefits for children being engaged in experiences that help foster a curiosity towards new foods and textures. Educators regularly incorporate cooking experiences into the educational program. During these experiences, the children are able to experiment with a range of learning concepts such as measurements, turn-taking and understanding the different history and perceptions of different cultures.  The centre is committed to good hygiene practices and takes special care when preparing and serving food.
