Please Note:

Au-Pairs (Services Temporarily on hold due to COVID-19 - please contact us for further information/assistance)
Are: Live-in Nannies that offer a weekly allowance that is a subsidised rate to include accommodation, food, rent, utility bills etc.  Au-Pairs are willing to travel Australia Wide so they may not be located in your area, or in the area where your booking/placement is required if looking for a Nanny/Babysitter/In-home Carer.  However, we will endeavour to assist with finding another carer in your area to assist your needs and we would provide you with a full brief on the assigned carer/s.

Nannies/Babysitters/In-home Carers/Before & or After School Care
Are: Live-out carers that charge an hourly rate with a minimum 4 hours per day for one shift, if split shift is required (i.e. Before & After School Care) then a minimum 2 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the afternoon will be required.  The reason these are set minimum hours is because it is very difficult to find carers who are willing to commit to fewer hours therefore meaning less consistency for you and your family.

Please note:

- Our permanent placement fees vary based on the number of days and hours you are offering each week.  For a tailored quote please contact us on 1300 011 167 or email us at abra.childcare@gmail.com

- If Casual bookings are received within 48 business hours of commencement of the assignment or made after hours then the booking fee will be $50 (+GST).

- If bookings are remote then there maybe an increase in the agency booking fee, please contact the agency for details

- We offer Shared Babysitting/Nannying Services also (if the children are from one, two or three different sets of parents or if there is more than 3 children).  Please contact the agency on 1300 011 167 or email us at abra.childcare@gmail.com for further details (additional fees maybe involved to comply with children to carer/nanny ratio).

Minimum booking is 4 hours.

About Me...

If I were to choose three attributes to describe who I am, they would be compassionate, driven and fun loving. I am 22 years old and currently in my fourth year of full-time study, close to completing my Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in psychology. My goal is to eventually complete my PhD in clinical psychology, so that I can become a registered psychologist. It has always been my desire in life to help others, and I feel that this career path will allow me to do so in a way that is authentic to me. I have always loved working with children; I think they are so special in the way that they provide us with a different perspective on life. In my job as a part-time tutor over the past four years, I have been able to create some special bonds and form some amazing relationships with the kids I teach. I would love to continue this passion and am currently looking for a full-time nannying/au pair job until I head to Camp America at the end of May.

English Tutor                                                                                         May 2015 – present

At Numberworks ‘n’ Words Palmerston North, I work with kids aged 5 to 17 with differing ability levels. In Junior English we work on skills like reading, spelling, comprehension and writing, both on and off the computers. In Senior English we focus more towards schoolwork, essay writing and language techniques. But above anything else, our aim as tutors is to create a fun and safe learning environment where the children aren’t afraid to ask questions or make mistakes. This has truly been the most rewarding job I have ever done.

Nannying
November 2017-February 2018

Over the summer I had sole charge of two young girls (aged 2 and 6). The family lived on a dairy farm so I was able to spend a lot of time outside with the girls, riding ponies and motorbikes as well as other activities like going to the pools and the trampoline park. I was also responsible for getting them ready for daycare and school respectively, and picking them up, preparing meals etc. This is a job I absolutely loved, but was required to give it up to return to my studies.

Voluntary Work

August 2015 – March 2016

I volunteered as a Friend of the Emergency Department (FED) for several months during my first year at university. This role required me to provide emotional support to patients and their families whilst they were in the emergency department at our local hospital. I also offered food and drink and helped to make beds where needed. This was very fulfilling work, but unfortunately the time demands of the shifts meant that I couldn’t work it around university classes.

Voluntary Work
September 2017 – present

I am currently a refugee support volunteer with Red Cross Palmerston North. This role means that I am involved with helping a refugee family settle into the community. I help them to integrate more smoothly into the community by taking them to appointments and helping them to learn some ‘Kiwi’ ways of life. This has been an incredible experience and really given me insight into how strong and resilient people can be.

Voluntary Work
June 2018 – present

I am currently a helpline counsellor at YouthlinePalmerston North. This involves taking text messages, emails and phone calls from youth and parents who use the helpline service. I took part in an 8-week training course prior to this, which covered topics such as anxiety, domestic violence, LGBTQ issues and more. I have learnt so much in the short time that I have been involved with Youthline.

Equestrian Achievements

I have competed in the equestrian sports, showing and dressage, since the age of 7 and since then have accumulated 12 national titles at the New Zealand Horse of the Year competition and represented NZ three times in Melbourne, at the EA Show Horse and Rider Championships. When I am not studying I love to get outdoors and amongst nature. I love going to the beach, riding my bike or walking along the river. Keeping fit is also a huge part of my life and I am also part of a social indoor football team. Other hobbies of mine include baking, reading, painting or drawing, and spending time with friends and family. I still love getting out to my family farm and jumping on a horse when I get the chance too.
