My experience as a nanny has been gained over a number of years, in which time I have ‘joined’ families and provided a supportive and constructive environment for the nurturing and development of their children.
I found the experience an incredibly rewarding one, both for the families and myself and this has led to some extremely strong relationships being formed.
Although it has been nearly 12 years since I nannied for one family, their youngest daughter recently visited me from England, which was lovely and in all that time I have maintained regular contact with the family and was lucky enough to meet them again in 2007.
I am also an experienced office co-ordinator having worked for the English Rugby Union in Twickenham for three years. During this time I managed meetings, organised transport, assisted with the co-ordination of International level rugby matches and liaised with players, sponsors and VIP’s.
Since 2000, I have moved out of the workplace to focus on my own family which comprises my daughter Juliet 8 and my son James aged 6.
During my time as a mother I have been involved in Play-Centre New Zealand (a parent run early childhood centre). My first role was as Property Co-ordinator and subsequently PR/Social Co-ordinator. Play-Centre involved organising meetings, workshops and fundraising events for the benefit of our children. I was also a member of the Hibiscus Coast Kindergarten Committee before my children started school and also was parent help in the classroom.
Once my children were both at school, I continued to take an active role and assisted with the weekly PMP [Perceptual Motor Skills Programme] at Red Beach School and also as parent help in the class.
In the year before moving to Australia, I also co-ordinated a Walking School Bus initiative in conjunction with the Local Council supervising up to eight children on the walk to school each morning.
In all this time, I have found assisting and developing the children I have been fortunate to be involved with a truly rewarding experience. There has been a lot of fun along the way and many happy memories for us all.
