During my time with Abracadabra I have worked on a casual basis for families with children ranging in age from 3 months to teenage years both during the day as well as evenings and weekends. My most recent assignment was offering in-home care to a family with 6 children aged between 2 yrs to 15 yrs, both parents worked for the Defense Force and Mum was unwell and in hospital. I was responsible for getting the children up and ready for the day, preparing breakfast, dressing the children, preparing lunch boxes and ensuring they had everything they needed before dropping them off to school. I organized daily outings and activities, age appropriate games, arts and crafts, stories and reading, collecting the children from school, attending after school activities, preparing snacks and evening meals and general household duties where required.

During my time at St. Andrews I worked in the Private Hospital Ward and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I worked as the Hospital Housekeeper and also volunteered my time as an Assistant in Nursing on a regular basis. I was responsible for ensuring that the Operating Theatres, Patient Rooms, Wards and Staff areas were kept sterilized and clean at all times. Whilst I loved my job at St. Andrews I was looking for a change and wanted to return to my love for working with children.

Nov 2009 - July 2010
Childcare Assistant
Play and Learn Mulberry Childcare

Sept 2008 - Nov 2009
Relief Childcare Assistant
Bremer Community Childcare

Nov 2008 - May 2009
Relief Childcare Assistant
Chatterbox Childcare Centre

May 2009 - Nov 2009
Relief Childcare Assistant
Brassall Bush Kids Childcare

During my time at the above Childcare Centre's I floated between the 0-2yrs room and 3-5 years room where I was responsible for supervising and organising age appropriate activities to enhance the physical, social, emotional and cognitive of those in my care. I would provide support with daily routines such as dressing, eating, sleeping and toileting. I would also perform First Aid and administer medication where required. Maintain accurate records of activities, development and incidents and comply with all relevant Occupational, Health & Safety requirements.

I was also responsible for feeding, settling, changing nappies, stimulating play and ensuring the safety of the children at all times. Monitoring and recording each child's progress and liaising with senior staff and parents on all levels.

I first started on a temporary basis with each of the above roles, but they kept me on as their relief Childcare Assistant as they were happy with the level of care I was providing and my work ethic.

I also cared for some of the children in their own home when parents needed a Nanny/Babysitter both during the week on evenings and over the weekend. I took the children on daily outings and engaged activities in the home with the children also.

'A Little Bit About Me'...

I have a varied background in both a centre based care and as a solecharge carer in the family home. I have also worked in a private hospital for the past five years in the hospital wards and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I have worked with all age groups and am confident with babies and infants. I have grown and independent children of my own so I understand the importance of finding the right care for children on all levels. I have a natural affiliation with children and they warm to me well, I actively involve myself through engaging with the children on all levels and by understanding each individual childs needs. I am able to incorporate my valuable training through having completed my Certificate lll in Children's Services and am able to record and monitor each child's development accordingly. I have built some very special bonds with the children I have cared for and their parents.

I am able to work co-operatively and autonomously. I am extremely reliable, hardworking and provide flexibility with my hours and can adjust to change easily. I possess a cheerful and happy nature.
