Delicious recipes for a gluten-free kids' party
Hip, hip and hooray because there are lots of ways to pack flavour and fun into a gluten-free children's menu.

Certain types of potato chips, rice crackers and dried fruit will bulk out the banquet table, but for extra colour and that homemade taste, give these a go.

1. Chicken and bacon meatballs


These child-friendly meatballs will run off the plate, so it's lucky that this recipe makes 48 of them! Just make sure the bacon is gluten-free, as some isn't.

2. Traffic light jelly cups


The good news is that most jelly is gluten-free. Check the label to be sure, then use green, yellow and red jelly, layered with grapes, mango and strawberries, to create this show-stopper of a dessert.

3. Crust less party quiches


Mini-chefs can help whip these up – just combine eggs, milk, gluten-free flour and cheese, then extras, like ham and corn. For a slight twist on the theme, sausage egg muffins are tasty too.

4. Rice puffs slice


Mix gluten-free rice puffs, like these and these, with melted butter, sugar and honey to make this sweet and crunchy crowd-pleaser. For pure decadence, add in some gluten-free marshmallow pieces too.

5. Sausage rolls


You could buy gluten-free sausage rolls or gluten-free pastry at the supermarket, but this 'made-from-scratch' recipe is kid-friendly (i.e. not too flavoursome) and the perfect party staple.

6. Polenta fries


Polenta has all the goodness of cornmeal, without the trickiness of wheat and gluten, so these cheesy fries are a great idea for your next kids’ party. Just double-check that your polenta is certified gluten-free, and not cross-contaminated, then get the dipping sauce ready!

7. Lamington bliss balls


These nutty bliss balls are gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free and fun to make. Roll them up and watch them go down a treat with your guests.

8. Rainbow fruit skewers


For preschoolers and up, fruit skewers are exciting to eat, lovely to look at and healthy too. Just alternate different types of fruit, like strawberries, mandarins, kiwi fruit and grapes, to make colourful kebabs.

9. The cake!


Finish off the festivities with a gluten-free ice-cream cake or sponge cake. There are loads of delicious recipes here, there and everywhere, so the birthday girl or boy is definitely spoilt for choice.
