At Alphabeta Retaval Preparatory School, we believe in fostering Catholic-based faith and values in our children, and providing a nurturing and all-inclusive authentic learning environment that is reflective of our families and community, to deliver an exceptional standard of education and care, so that every child is able to make progress to reach their own full potential.

When children are educated from a holistic approach where they can integrate their faith, they are able to build and shape their identity through experiences of becoming, and the impact of this connectedness enhances both their well-being and learning. Effective learning is further strengthened by providing an environment that is cohesive  with their interests, community and cultural beliefs, thus nurturing a culture of meaningful learning and inclusivity for every child, so that the child makes progress in meeting learning goals and outcomes.

This is achieved through a collaborative, child-lead and inclusive learning environment, where children are supported to explore and discover to create their own learning through play-based activities. We build upon this through community involvement, so that the child and their family feel supported. We are committed to social justice and the effect on the families within our community of circumstantial challenges, so that we can support and provide opportunities to help families and their children progress in a positive way.

Alphabeta Retaval Preparatory School team

The programs at Alphabeta Retaval Preparatory School are designed to provide the children with a range of different experiences. With regular excursions and a holistic wellbeing program, the educators also ensure the children have regular opportunities for physical play. Dance, movement, yoga, mindfulness, music, relaxation and cooking all form part of the agenda.

To teach the importance of sustainability, the children participate in a recycling program and learn about reducing energy and conserving water. This gives them the skills they need to be environmentally responsible and appreciate their natural environment.

The curriculum at Alphabeta Retaval Preparatory School caters to the needs, interests and abilities of each individual child. The intentional, play-based program is aligned to the Early Years Learning Framework. 

To support the curriculum, the educators seek to connect strong connections with the children’s families. Working in partnership with parents, each child’s knowledge, ideas, culture, abilities and interests form the foundation of the curriculum. 

The children are encouraged to be independent and develop their self-help skills. The educators also observe and document the children’s progress in a learning portfolio. Parents can review the portfolio throughout the year to track their child’s progress.
