St George Montessori Long Day Care

My daughter has been a part of the St George Montessori Peakhurst family for the past 4 years and I would not have it any other way. As a parent, my priorities were to ensure that my daughter is at a fun, dynamic, nurturing, educational and happy place and St George Montessori has proven to be just that!

The centre is immaculately maintained both inside and outside and the staff are friendly and encouraging to the children. From the minute you walk in, you are greeted with warm smiles by staff members who truly treasure and love the kids.

They go above and beyond to provide a safe, nurturing and supportive environment and I am continuously pleased with the remarkable progression in my daughter’s development both cognitively and socially. This is because the teachers always effectively plan, implement and immerse the children in activities that stimulate their growing minds and this helps prepare them for school. I have loved working in partnership with the staff who send daily feedback about my daughter’s progress and reflection of her day, to ensure they support her wellbeing and learning.

St George Montessori Peakhurst South team

The curriculum at St George Montessori Peakhurst South combines the Early Years Learning Framework with the Montessori approach. The children learn practical life skills along with sensory development activities. To support their transition to school the curriculum also includes literacy, numeracy, science, geography and art.

The preschool children, aged 3-6 years, also participate in an extensive school readiness program. The classroom is designed to support them in preparing for their transition to school with an interactive whiteboard and computers for doing school-based activities.

I am very passionate about the Montessori method of teaching. Montessori provides an environment to allow the children to develop a love for learning. We believe children learn from real life, hands on experiences that foster their development. Over the years at Peakhurst, we have created a home-like environment for our children and families where we welcome everyone with open arms. Our team are passionate about getting to know each child individually, to foster their development, meeting their individual needs and to challenge them daily. Being creative is something I really enjoy and making beautiful environments for our children to learn, grow and explore.

The onsite chef prepares all meals for the children everyday, often using centre-grown eggs and vegetables. The menu is nutritious, filled with wholesome meals that will nourish and fuel the children for their daily adventures. 

The children also participate in the NSW Health Munch & Move initiative to learn about the importance of physical activity and healthy eating.
