Many of the qualified educators have been working at Sunkids Eight Mile Plains for many years. This experience gives parents peace of mind that their child is in capable hands. Educators take a genuine interest in getting to know each child’s family on a personal level. The team get to know the children’s lives outside of Sunkids and look to incorporate the real-life events and experiences that occur into the children’s learning experiences.
The centre offers an interest-based curriculum, where educators are guided by the children’s own interests and ideas. This helps to develop confident and enthusiastic learners. Appropriate use of technology is encouraged for the children.
The educators at Sunkids Eight Mile Plains understand that all children are different, and learn at their own pace. Parents can enjoy daily photographs and feedback on their children’s day, as special moments are sent through the free StoryPark app.
All meals and snacks are provided by the in-house chef, with all preferences, dietary restrictions and cultural needs catered for. The educators use meals and snacks as an opportunity to promote the enjoyment of nutritious foods, support social interaction, and to teach the children to respect other people’s rights, preferences and cultural diversity.
All food is enjoyed in the outdoor alfresco dining area. Children are encouraged to take their time, have conversations, assist with serving the food and packing away. The educators teach the children about food and nutrition and how it relates to their own health and development. All seasonal menus are displayed for families, and educators are happy to take suggestions and input from parents.

In January 2012 the National Quality Framework (NQF) came into effect across Australia.
The purpose of the NQF is to improve and standardise the quality of child care through a
range of measures including better staff to child ratios, higher staff qualifications
and an assessment and rating system designed to promote continuous improvement.
Under the NQF child care services are assessed and rated against the National Quality Standards (NQS).
The NQS measures the quality of early childhood education and care in Australia. It will cover
most long day care, family day care, preschool/kindergarten and outside school hours care services.
Under these standards child care services will be assessed and rated against the
seven quality areas, 18 standards and 58 elements that make up the NQS.
