About

SDN Hurstville is a 39-place centre offering early childhood education and child care for children from 18 months to school age in Sydney’s St George area.

As a smaller centre with a high staff-to-child ratio, we are able to provide your child with small-group, interest-based learning experiences. Our centre has two rooms, one for 18 months-3 year old children, and one for 4-5 year old children. We value collaborative relationships with families and we help children to connect with their local community through excursions to the park, library and local shops and through celebrating cultural events such as Lunar New Year. We also have a large outdoor play area which recently won a bronze medal for landscape design. You can learn more about our educational program here.

Many of our educators have worked at SDN Hurstville for over 10 years. We have a diverse team of qualified early childhood professionals that includes Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay and Arabic-speaking team members.

Our families say…
“I love the fact that the rooms are small with a homely feel.”

“The centre and staff are excellent in what they do.”

"I chose SDN Hurstville 9 years ago .... because of its great reputation in the area [and] because I trust the educators and other staffs, I knew they would take good care of my kids and they did not disappoint me... For sure I will suggest all my friends to send their kids to SDN Hurstville."

"What a fantastic little centre! There never was a matter not attended to or too trivial, every concern or question was met with patience, understanding and willingness to help. I honestly cannot recommend this centre high enough."

"One thing I have been looking at the most when finding the right daycare is the longevity of staff - at this daycare the majority of the team have been there for more than 10 years, some even 20 years which shows me that this is a great place to work at and at the same time I feel assured, that my child won't have to get used to a new carer every couple months."

The staff are extremely irresponsible and bullied kid and made them feel terrible for not being able to control their regurgitations, as a kid, would you know what is right or wrong? One Asian staff made kid cry to clean up their own vomit. I was not notified after 6 hours later when I picked up kid with smelly clothing and hair full of kid's own chewed up food. NOT HAPPY.

What a fantastic little centre! Great engaged educators, with years and years of experience in caring for children professionally and personally. Engaging and meaningful planned activities tailored to your child's interests, safe and encouraging environment to learn, play, build relationships and master new skills. Balanced and beautiful meals my child loved and talked about, and always honest and transparent communication between the centre administration and educators and me. There never was a matter not attended to or too trivial, every concern or question was met with patience, understanding and willingness to help. I honestly cannot recommend this centre high enough.

I chose SDN Hurstville 9 years ago for my eldest daughter because of its great reputation in the area. And my other 2 kids went to this centre as well. The reason was because I trust the educators and other staffs, I knew they would take good care of my kids and they did not disappoint me. Receptionist is very organised and efficient, always respond to my enquires in time. All educators are very caring and patient, and I really enjoy the stories they wrote about my kids on Storypark. Helped me a lot to keep those precious memories. For sure I will suggest all my friends to send their kids to SDN Hurstville.

I have had both my kids at this daycare and I cannot highlight enough how amazing it is. The team is the THE BEST. Every single carer and team member is warm and and welcoming, including every child and welcoming each child and their unique personalities. Reading through some of the reviews I am actually wondering what you expect from a child care? Accidents happen at every single daycare just like on every playground when a parent is standing literally right next to a child. We always received a call right away and an accident report and my kids were well taken care of. I have seen many many daycares and SDN has been outstanding. The educational programme incorporates ALL the children, not just those that start kindy soon. Even the youngest have their special time tailored to their age. They include all the different cultures, have a morning session with aboriginal songs and stories and even learn AUSLANG, which I have never seen before. So inclusive! The programme is so diverse including all sorts of areas like sustainability, reuse & recycling (their own worm farm and garden patch and we could even bring in all the lids we had collected for the lidz for kids programme), music, arts and many more. The food is fantastic. Prepared every morning on site and with fresh ingredients, no nasties and no reheated dishes. Snacks are yummy and the new juice bar in the morning is a great idea. We always loved the chef who gave us many new ideas what to cook for our children that they actually eat. The manager is very attentive and makes sure, that all kids have a voice and are being heard. Also myself, as a parent, I felt very well taken care off. One thing I have been looking at the most when finding the right daycare is the longevity of staff - at this daycare the majority of the team have been there for more than 10 years, some even 20 years which shows me that this is a great place to work at and at the same time I feel assured, that my child won't have to get used to a new carer every couple months. Both my kids had a great time and I cannot recommend SDN Hurstville enough.

my son went to this child care centre over a period of six weeks ( actual attendance was only 6 days over 3 weeks as he was unwell for other 3 weeks). In the last two weeks two incidents happened in a row. the first incident happened when my son was pushed by other kid and bumped his head onto the table. we were notified about an hour later. we accepted this even we were not very happy. the second incident happened the week after - the incident happened around 10:30am and we were only notified around 3:30pm. when we picked up my son around 4pm we could still see deep nail marks on both his cheeks. we were very upset about what happened to my son and also the fact that we were not notified straight away but 6 hours later after the incident happened. I donot want my son to go a child care centre where safety is a big concern. at orientation day, I asked the centre director what they would do to prevent my son being hurt by other kids and the answer I had was such risk is unavoidable when you send your child to the child care centre. on play day my son was also push twice by another big kid who also pushed other girl and made her cry. I comforted my son and an educator comforted other girl but no educators said anything about the big kid who clearly displayed the behaviours of concern. I should have my trusted my gut feeling and not sent my son to this child care centre at all. I only did so just because someone I know sent their kid there and I did not know other child care centre well in the area at that time. I am glad that I finally found a good one for my son in the area. Strongly DO NOT recommend this child care centre to anyone !!!

Very terrible childcare centre. I went here as a child and I was bullied a lot. My parents told me I came back with bruises and that when they went to report it, the people at the centre didn't do anything. Hope you go out of business.

It is much expensive than the other centre but too bad services, careless and neglectful staffs and director, never reply email, but good reception. Do not care about children's safety issue. We spotted a few time kids fight but no staffs stop, or they did not notice that. My son got an accident, and the educators did not notice until we found it. Soooooo bad centre and so disappointed.
