(07) 3469 5001Welcome to Genius Paddington! We are conveniently located for families living in Paddington, Red Hill, Rosalie, Barton and Kelvin Grove.
Genius Paddington is a homely early learning centre that offers early education and care for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years old. We have an amazing team of passionate teachers and educators. Our team ensures every child feels safe, nurtured and inspired throughout their education journey. From planning adventure-filled experiences to building children’s self-confidence and resilience, right up until a child’s transition to ‘big school’.
Children and teachers grow and learn together, in our resource-rich learning environments. Our centre boasts engaging outdoor spaces that provide children with plenty of space to learn and explore. These engaging outdoor environments include a fort that is designed to spark a child’s imagination and encourage play, a teepee, a running track that encourages healthy well-being, a sensory path, a sand pit and a plethora of natural materials at their disposal.
Our indoor facilities equally boast engaging spaces with age-appropriate resources, engaging and exciting learning areas set up for the children and multicultural resources across the whole centre.
Our team
The quality of our centre is underpinned by the quality of our people. At the heart of our centre is our highly trained and longstanding team of educators who strive to create a calm, engaging and welcoming environment that enables all children to develop and progress through their learning journey. Additionally, we have a culturally diverse team of educators who love teaching the children about their cultures through books, music, food and traditional dress.
We know each child is an individual with unique talents and interests. Our team is passionate about their profession and truly wants your child to succeed in discovering their identity as confident, happy and resilient learners. Parents receive daily updates and photos detailing their child's learning and development from our easy-to-use Parent app.
Partnering with families
Relationships are key to delivering the best possible learning opportunities for your child. Our Educators and teachers develop strong bonds with the children and their families. We view a child's early education as an extension of the learning occurring at home. Therefore, we believe a successful early learning journey needs a good partnership. We pride ourselves on working together with our families to achieve the best possible outcomes for their children. We welcome your involvement and that involvement will look different for different families.
Exploring the community
We offer a range of experiences to help children learn about their local community. We often have visits from librarians, emergency services, child safety departments and other community services to help expand the children’s learning. We also have excursions to our local park and local primary school to assist our Kindergarten children with their transition to ‘big school’.

Health and Nutrition
Health and Nutrition
Our centre chef prepares and cooks healthy and nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating. We have a 4-week rotating menu, and we also provide a breakfast and puree menu.
Our centre offers children simple, nutrient-rich, unprocessed, and seasonal whole foods - designed to tempt even the fussiest of eaters.
About the curriculum
About the curriculum
Our Educational Programs:
“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber
Nursery Space:
Nursery Room (6 weeks - 12 months)
Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication, and cues (body language, facial expression, and sounds) and by experimenting. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play, water play, music time story time, and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning, and well-being!
Toddler Space:
Junior Toddler (12 months - 2 years)
Senior Toddler (2 years - 3 years)
Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, and reading experiences.
On any given day the Toddler children can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns, and participating in counting songs and games.
Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as turn-taking, developing self-confidence, and emotional self-regulation. Our team helps children through talking, planning, and role modelling.
Kindergarten Space:
Pre-Kindergarten (3 years - 4 years)
Kindergarten Room (4 years - 5 years)
Kindergarten is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program encourages active engagement in learning and supports a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking, and creativity.
The oral language supports literacy learning. A child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our kindergarten children's development by engaging in rich discussions, introducing new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations, as well as singing, playing games, and reading with the children daily.
Throughout the kindergarten year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.
Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning environments. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations.
We offer a great variety of learning experiences at Kindy Patch Paddington including;
- Incursions & Excursion Program: Our programs encourage children to interact with and discover their local Community. We often have visits from community services such as emergency services and the local librarian. We also go on adventures to the local parks, schools, aged care residences, and shops.
- Sports Programs: As a part of the daily fee our three to five-year-old children participate in the centre’s future champs program. The Future Champs program places a large emphasis on promoting a healthy lifestyle, and developing the children’s gross motor skills and also their hand-eye coordination.

Morning
Georgia is 11 months old and enjoys sensory play outside in the sandpit with her friends. She sits near her educator who helps teach her how to scoop the sand into the bucket. Georgia is learning how to dig, carry, and move the sand. She is also exploring texture and learning what happens to the sand when she adds water!
Lunch
Georgia has finished her lunch and is preparing to take a nap. Her educator changes her nappy, prepares a bottle, and reads Georgia a story before her afternoon sleep.
Afternoon
Georgia and some of her nursery friends enjoy some story time and songs outside in the shaded garden. They read ‘Peepo’ which is Georgia’s favourite book.
Morning
Preston is two and a half years old and loves to start his day at the centre outside on the climbing equipment. His friends join him, and together they pretend to be pirates on a ship looking for treasure. Through this exciting dramatic play, Preston is learning about himself and the world around him. Dramatic play is helping Preston identify his interests, abilities, likes, and dislikes.
Lunch
Preston is watering the vegetables in the garden. By doing this, Preston is learning the importance of growing and caring for the veggies in the garden. Preston picks a tomato from the garden, which the Chef will use to help make Preston and his friends lunch - spaghetti bolognese!
Afternoon
Preston enjoys art, and today he is painting a beach scene from a recent family holiday. He adds the finishing touches and sets the painting aside to dry; so that he can take it home to share with his family.
While painting, Preston is learning how to express himself creatively and how to convey his ideas and emotions. Painting is also helping develop Preston’s hand-eye coordination, and finger, wrist, and hand strength. Making marks on paper is important for self-expression as well as later learning.
Morning
Lola is almost five years old and can’t wait for today’s carpentry experience - she loves building things! Carpentry experiences allow Lola and her friends to extend their learning through real-life experiences. While participating in carpentry, Lola is learning to problem solve, experiment, and predict. She is also improving her hand-eye coordination, manipulative skills, and muscular strength.
Lunch
Before Lola sits down for lunch with her friends and educators, Lola takes part in the centre’s sports program - sports! Lola loves sports. Sports help Lola improve her flexibility and strength (perfect for growing bodies!). Sports also allow her to practice different skills in a fun and engaging way.
Afternoon
Lola is off to ‘big school’ next year and she can't wait to start! Lola and her friends will be visiting the local primary school next week. In preparation for the visit, the class is creating a list of questions to ask the Principal and school children.
