About Guardian Childcare & Education Bligh Street

   45 ratings more

Guardian Childcare & Education Bligh Street (formerly Little Steps) is rated as ‘exceeding’ in all seven areas of the National Quality Standard. While based in the Sydney CBD the Centre is certainly not short on space, boasting a range of exciting, resource-rich environments including areas for water play, an obstacle course, a sandpit and a partially covered outdoor space where the children can play and learn in all weather conditions.

Community is a passion of ours at Guardian Blight Street, so our children get out and about on regular excursions to explore the world around them. We enjoy visits to the Botanical Gardens, our local garden Centre and museums, as well as receiving weekly visits from the local library. Guardian Bligh Street also runs a Preschool Program, led by university-trained Teachers who will help prepare your child for the exciting transition to primary school.

Our on-site cook, Fanny, is a qualified dietitian and prepares five nutritionally balanced meals using seasonal ingredients every day. To further explore food at the Centre, our Educators host cooking classes for the children to understand good nutrition.

Centre Manager Emily says: “Cooking experiences are an amazing way to learn a wide range of skills. The children have learnt to collaborate, follow instructions, how to handle kitchen utensils safely, and regularly practice several fine motor skills. It’s also an opportunity for the children to learn about chemistry in the kitchen and explore the cause and effect of different ingredients. Since launching the classes, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how excited, dedicated and patient the children are when it comes to their cooking. It’s truly a delight to watch.”

Our family loves Little Steps. We have been enrolled at the centre for over 2 years and have been thrilled with the care that our 2 children have received. From management down, the whole place feels like part of our family. Both our children have thrived here. They are happy, confident and feel safe. The carers and managers are so thoughtful, helpful, engaging and patient. They really make the prospect of daycare less daunting. 10/10!
We are very sorry to be leaving the Little Steps family, due to a location change for our family. The educators, management, culture and environment are all exemplary and it’s been a joy to be part of the centre for the past 20 months. Since starting at 12 months of age, our daughter’s development, confidence and self-awareness have all come on leaps and bounds in this time and it's been delightful to see her building strong relationships with both her educators and classmates, happily waving us goodbye every morning. My husband and I have been particularly impressed with the diversity of activities, learning experiences and excursions put on by the centre – with trips to Circular Quay; Museum of Sydney; Museum of Contemporary Art; the Martin Place Christmas tree; the Botanic Gardens; posting a letter at the post office, to name but a few! It has not been an easy decision to leave Little Steps, although it is a necessary one, and our next daycare centre certainly has some very big shoes to fill.
