Welcome to KU Lance Children's Centre

Welcome to KU Lance Children's Centre!

In addition to the high-quality, well-rounded programs we offer at all KU centres, each centre is also encouraged to develop an area of interest.

At KU Lance, we have an ongoing commitment to sustainability and nature education. Our regular excursions to Barangaroo Headland Park allow children to explore natural environments and ‘wild places’. We also utilise natural items in our teaching and learning environments, as well as a kitchen garden and several pets, to assist children in caring for other living things with whom we share the planet.

Our belief in the benefits of Nature education for children’s wellbeing, resilience and cognitive function are well supported in research. As children learn about and within the natural world, they develop a stewardship of care and respect for the environment.

Programs

The KU program provides the children with a range of different activities and experiences to support their learning. From gardening to arts and crafts, music, movement and literacy, numeracy and scientific concepts, the program helps to build the children’s confidence as capable and active learners.

KU Lance Children’s Centre also runs a specialised sustainability and nature education program. The children go on regular excursions to Barangaroo Headland Park so they can explore the local environment. They also care for the kitchen garden and centre pets to develop an appreciation and respect for other living things.
