ToBeMe Early Learning - Burwood Centre overview

(02) 9072 0617Walk into this child care centre in Burwood and you’ll feel excited by the possibilities for your child. The company’s goal is to spark a love of learning, and they do that with a fresh, modern approach of ‘campus-style’ learning in an architecturally designed space.
The children are given access to different rooms for focused learning, to get them used to the school environment. There’s a library, an art space, a construction room, a gymnasium, a music room and even a LEGO room.
Outside, the children can enjoy the huge wet and dry sandpit that’s just like the beach, an outdoor climbing space with rock and ropes for climbing on, as well as a castle and cubby. A dining area brings them together for meals.
Located just a stone’s throw from Burwood train station and Burwood Park, this centre is open from 7.00 am until 6.00 pm. The centre cares for children from 6 weeks to 6 years.
For the 6 weeks – 4 year olds
ToBeMe cares for the babies and toddlers in open-plan classrooms that encourage play and discovery. They have their own curriculum, which encourages children to become curious about the world through connections-based learning.
Within each of the rooms, you will find a stage and dress-up clothes for performances, blocks and games, a home corner with play kitchen, with many ways for the children to take keep active. ToBeMe is the only NSW centre that offers a reading, writing and spelling program (THRASS) to children aged from just 6 months.
Each of the early years rooms opens up to an outdoor play space with real vegetation, grass, vegetable gardens and play area. Children take part in excursions to the post office, local parks and museums to extend their learning.
This modern design allows the children to move to various projects in different rooms through the day. They can leave their work project in place and come back to it later or another day. This teaches them that their work is valuable and not limited to a specific time frame set by the educators.
For the 4 – 5 year olds
At ToBeMe, the Prep School program builds the confidence of the children as they prepare to begin life at school. The program is set up like a school day, and includes various subjects like maths, literacy and even robotics.
Running through the prep school curriculum is a focus on developing a passion for learning, as well as a connection to themselves

The goal is still to learn through play, and the architecturally-designed learning spaces give children every chance to find their own areas of interest.
For parents, the centre offers the convenience of on-site speech therapy and OT support as needed. This supports families as they don’t need to take time off work to take children to appointments. Children can even book in for a haircut or private music lesson at the centre during child care hours.

Amazing facilities; well beyond what a normal child care has. Great educators who are very experienced and friendly. Simply an overall fantastic experience - a great environment for a young child.
Maria, parent
I have had one child in the Burwood centre since it opened and I couldn’t be happier with the staff and facilities. My son absolutely loves it here. We have just recently started our second son at this centre as well and the staff are amazing with him. I would give more stars to this centre if I could. I completely recommend and endorse this centre to all! Amazing.

We recognised that at heart, children are explorers. So we decided to become explorers ourselves, and identified the best teaching methods, theories, learning environments and resources that a child needs to become their best self.
Creating a one of a kind early learning centre that explores all possibilities while having our children’s best interests at heart. In the spirit of exploration we discovered that if a child is to truly become their best self then we need to harmonise the very best teaching practices of the very best theories.
We sourced architect Sarah Scott, author of Architecture for Children, to design our facilities.
It takes a village to raise a child, and at ToBeMe we aim to do this under one roof. We place an emphasis on partnerships with families. We are dedicated, passionate and have a love of learning and teaching.

Health & nutrition
Health & nutrition
An on site chef prepares five healthy meals a day, all approved by the Department of Health’s Munch & Move program.
Children plant, grow and harvest their own fruit, vegetables and herbs in the rooftop garden. They participate in cooking lessons where they are encouraged to understand the concept of seed to plate.
Food is all cooked on the premises, with the pre-school aged children practising with lunch boxes as they prepare to move into formal schooling.
The eating area is set out like a restaurant, to allow the children to learn about the social aspects of food, sharing a space, and working together to pack away.
