St Faiths Gumnut Kindergarten

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, the curriculum at Gumnut Kindergarten aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. The curriculum is based on a number of core beliefs:

• Children are competent, capable and deeply curious. We actively listen to children’s voices, documenting their thoughts, ideas and questions.
• Children are active learners who are eager to explore, to work with others and engage in the process of learning. We value this process seeking to support them in all their investigations.
• Children are protagonists of their own learning. They are intelligent and intent on making sense of the world through a constant process of constructing knowledge.
• Children have a right to realise their potential and be recognised as citizens of their world. 

The educators support each child in their discovery as they develop their own unique ideas and interests. The curriculum is play-based with activities including painting, drama, water play, storytelling, music and outdoor activities.

The Gumnut Kindergarten program focuses on the children’s wellbeing to ensure they are happy, healthy, safe and engaged in their learning. The program helps the children to develop important social and emotional skills, such as self-awareness, building friendships, self-management and decision making.
