Woodlands Truganina Centre overview

Welcome to Woodlands Truganina

Be part of the future of education.

LOVE

Woodlands is a partnership between educators, children, and parents who are driven to deliver whole-child, personalized learning so that every child can reach their potential.

EDUCATION

We encourage the growth of independence and social awareness, sensory exploration, the development of physical skills, and language development. Children play in a planned indoor and outdoor environment designed to provide a variety of materials to explore.

FUN

Our goal is to encourage each child’s natural curiosity and interest in learning. We feel it is important for children to actively participate in the learning process, and therefore provide many opportunities for learning by doing, for both indirect and direct acquisition of new knowledge and skills.

Hi, Thank you for comment, we will be glad to answers this question and help you understand our educational approach. One of our first values at woodland is “Education - NOT babysitting” In our campuses everyone is responsible for the environment not one person or two - it’s everyone, including the children. How do we expect our children to grow and take care of their local environment, its by demonstrating that as a human being you are responsible and have the choice, the right choice to maintain, and keep our environment and our school clean - this teaches children they have a responsibility and awareness to their surroundings and the environment - which indeed is a life skill and will be needed in a forever changing world that’s reaching for sustainability. Another lesion in all this is - you don’t need to be a cleaner to look after the environment - everyone must contribute and can actively work towards a consciousness of the environment. Woodlands is an early childhood school and all are teachers are fully aware that everyone is to participating in keep our environment clean. Including higher leadership Team members - everyone cleans and maintain the environment. With that acknowledgment - we will Investigate this matter further and deem if our education approach is being followed and activity teacher to children, as again we are a school and not a babysitting service. The cleanliness and presentation of the physical environment are of significance to all Woodlands campuses. Woodlands' strongly emphasises the art of organising and de-cluttering which originates from a Japanese philosophy of mindfulness. The purpose of cleaning as an aspect of education in Japanese schools is to foster a child’s skills to become a functional member of society. This component of education in the Japanese curriculum includes an emphasis on acquisition of well-mannered behaviour in the social context: respect for order within the society; and a sense of social duty and responsibility. As part of their education, children are taught to keep their surroundings clean. We Woodlanders look after our own environment because we are modelling to the children how to be proud, respectful, responsible, and caring for the environment in which we all work and play. We teach them to reflect these attitudes by encouraging children (Dependent on age appropriateness) to pack up, wipe down tables, put rubbish in bins, not waste precious resources either natural or man-made, and take care of our equipment by using equipment in the correct manner. As the children develop these attitudes, they will become embedded and part of their lives - indeed a life skill.  It's important the Woodlands Campuses are clean, not cluttered, and welcoming.
