At Beaumaris Early Learning Centre, a dedicated team of highly qualified educators proudly nurture children with outstanding care and play-based learning opportunities.

The centre wants parents and carers to be part of children’s learning adventure. It encourages parents to provide information on children's interests and families’ traditional customs and special events, and it welcomes parents and carers to volunteer in the classroom.

Educators provide updates on children’s progress, interests, development and goals at regular parent/teacher meetings. The centre also organises parent information sessions. These include school readiness’ evenings with visits from the local school principal, and seminars on topics such as health and nutrition, behaviour guidance and child development.

The centre has a dedicated Parent Portal and App, with detailed information and photos of children’s activities, interactive calendars and details on daily programs.

The centre has developed an inquiry-based curriculum which, together with the play-based learning environments, actively promotes children’s learning. Central to the centre curriculum is the Prepare Early Education Program (EEP), which provides tailored learning covering 6 key areas:

Literacy

Educators foster children’s language and literacy development with a rich language environment and stimulating activities. Educators aim to extend vocabulary and to build letter-sound awareness using stories, which also fosters a love of reading.

Numeracy

The numeracy curriculum helps children build maths and counting skills by focusing on numbers in everyday activities. The program introduces children to counting, identifying numbers, two and three dimensional shapes plus length, distance, volume and capacity.

Science

The science curriculum includes fun, hands-on experiences and experiments that stimulate the inquiry process, allowing children to explore and discover the fascinating world around them. 

Creative arts

Children take part in visual arts, dance, music and drama, to promote creativity, imagination, individual expression and a sense of self. The creative arts also also play an important role in enhancing development in other areas.

Health and wellbeing

As part of the centre’s holistic development goals, educators introduce children to healthy and positive lifestyle choices, with information on healthy eating and physical activity, and fun activities including yoga. 

Sustainability

With programs including organic gardening, recycling and material reuse, the sustainability curriculum helps children gain an understanding and develop positive attitudes and values towards the environment, and environmental learning.
