C4K: What does your daily work schedule involve?

NY: I'm freelance and work from home, so my work varies from week to week, deadline to deadline – which means sometimes I'm frantic, other times I'm not, so it's really quite hard to maintain a daily routine as such. Every day is different.

C4K: When did you go back to work after having your children?

NY: I pretty much went back to pitching story ideas a couple of months after having both my boys… I was lucky that I could work around their feeding and sleeping times.

C4K: What were your main motivations to return to work?

NY: Um, finances – and I wanted to stay in the loop! I wanted to have something for me, have some grown-up time, a creative outlet – and also be able to contribute to paying the bills.

I created www.bellaMUMMA.com as a way to stay in touch with the beauty world and to keep creative!

C4K: Who looks after Zac when you're working?

NY: Zac goes to kindergarten two days a week {my eldest is at school} – so I try to get all my work done in those two days {and at night}! If I'm stuck and need more time to work, then my mum helps me out.

C4K: How did you find your child care and was it a difficult process?

NY: I actually asked around! Everyone I came into contact with who had little kids, I asked what Kindy they went to, then I did my initial research (on careforkids.com.au) and went and sussed them all out! We also did a couple of half days for a few months before they started Kindy - just to see the day-to-day!

C4K: What would you do differently if you were looking for child care again?

NY: We've been very, very, very lucky with our childcare. I couldn't fault them! They are brilliant.

C4K: How have you and your kids found child care and what do you think are the main benefits of your arrangement?

NY: It did take both my boys about 6 weeks to truly settle into going to Kindy – and there were mornings that they used to cry because they didn't want to go. I used to feel SO guilty, but after they did settle, they both loved it – which made everyone in the family happy!
I get two days to get my head together and completely focus on my work… while Zac gets to hang out with little friends! Those two precious kid-free days allow me to be a much calmer mum!

C4K: What do you love or hate about child care?

NY: As I've said I love the child care my sons have used and there's nothing I hate about it, but it's funny how nothing is a secret or sacred at kindy! Kids pretty much tell it as it is about their home life – and as a result the Kindy teachers hear and know more about us than they or I would probably like!
