C4K: What is your name?

AL: My name is Anmol Lohia and I am in my late 30s.

C4K: What is your professional background and career experience?

AL: My professional background is business and after having achieved a Bachelor of Commerce Degree I decided to pursue a career in what I was truly passionate about ... and that was children. I re-trained in New Zealand and became an Early Childhood Teacher.

C4K: What attracted you to a career in child care?

AL: My love and passion for children and education attracted me to a career in child care.

C4K: What does a ‘normal’ day look like for you?

AL: Every day is a new and different day at Bambini of Lilyfield; but it is always filled with love, nurture, care, laughter, learning and teaching.

C4K: What are some of the advantages of working in the child care sector?

AL: We are the most fortunate people in the world who can truly shape and create a climate of happiness, motivation and inspiration not only for the children but also for the team. Our motto at Bambini of Lilyfield is ‘Inspiring young minds’.

C4K: What are some of the biggest challenges facing the child care sector?

AL: The changes in the new regulations and the introduction of the EYLF and the NQF are some of the challenges that the industry faces. We also face shortages of passionate and qualified staff which makes it more difficult to be able to meet the requirements.

C4K: How has your place of work changed to deal with these challenges?

AL: At Bambini of Lilyfield we have helped staff achieve qualifications through traineeships. Currently our entire permanent team is qualified which has been a great help to deal with these new challenges.

C4K: How does the industry need to change to adapt to these challenges?

AL: I believe that these changes are a positive change for our sector which will help the Early Childhood Sector to be viewed in a more professional light, hence the industry needs to embrace them and up-skill, if required, to adapt to these challenges.

C4K: What advice would you offer someone thinking about a career or looking for a promotion in child care?

AL: Being passionate and loving children is the most important thing if you are thinking of choosing a career in child care.

Quality interactions make the difference in empowering children in developing into effective adults in our diverse world of changing times. Children learn through experiences they have with their families and with the wider community. Brain research on children under five has found a direct link between these experiences and future development.

At Bambini of Lilyfield we practise ongoing inclusive practices which highlight our relationships with children, employees and families. Community features strongly in the experiences at Bambini. Bambini of Lilyfield ‘Inspires young minds’ through Quality in Teaching and Learning and this is important for everyone in the Early Childhood Education industry.
