St George Montessori Engadine Early Learning Centre overview
Phone
(02) 9072 0586St George Montessori Engadine Early Learning Centre provides exceptional and high-quality care and education to children aged 6 weeks through to 6 years, creating life-long bonds with our children, families and the community.
Centrally located on Woronora Road, our Centre comprises of three vibrant age specific rooms, Nursey, Toddlers and Preschool. Our environments are warm and inviting, encouraging children to engage with their peers, educators and the learning environment. Our rooms are flexible providing the opportunity to be adapted based on the learning that is taking place, encouraging the children to extend their knowledge and skills through project based learning, intentional teaching moments, interest based experiences that are planned for through careful observation and analysis of learning to determine where and how to extend the learning experience. Our centre is also home to chickens and a veggie patch to encourage nature play.
We use the Montessori approach to learning founded by Dr Maria Montessori. Children learn through real life experiences and a huge variety of materials that are purposeful and designed for different areas of learning and development. Alongside our Montessori Curriculum we draw on the Early Years Learning Framework, supported by the National Quality Framework and Australian Curriculum. It is vital that as educators we are using the Early Years Framework as this is the foundation for our children as they enter foundation level of school, and by linking to the Australian Curriculum we are able to provide children with the skills that they will require as they transition into their formal education.
We are open from 7.00am - 6:00pm Monday to Friday, 52 weeks of the year.
To make learning fun and interesting for our children, we regularly hold incursions and excursions to assist with learning and development which are included in our fees. Some of these include yoga, cooking and French classes and Kelly Sports Program.

The best person to review St George would be my son and when we pick him up each day he's smiling ear to ear. He loves his days here and he's developed so much since he started. We like that the day is part structured and part play. And that fresh and healthy meals are provided and exercise is encouraged.

My kids have been going there for almost 6 months now and we couldn't be happier. My kids love the teachers and the centre as a whole. Fresh cooked in house meals was a big bonus as my son has allergies and they have been amazing and so supportive of working with us to make sure he is catered for.

About the curriculum
About the curriculum
6 weeks - 2 years
The nursery children enjoy a wide variety of learning experiences utilising the Montessori approach to education. The focus here is on fostering basic trust in the child by providing a safe and loving home like environment. The children are free to develop according to their own personality and individuality is encouraged. The children are exposed to experiences that are designed to promote the development of social skills, emotional growth, and physical coordination as well as cognitive preparation for future intellectual and academic endeavours.
2 years - 3 years
Here the children develop their independence by moving to a school setting. In this age group the young child’s need for order, movement, sensory-motor experiences, language experiences and social interaction, guide the conceptual framework for the Montessori pre-school program.
The preschool room provides a rich variety of specially designed materials for the children such as reading, writing, mathematics, science, geography, practical life, and sensorial development. Children are free to choose their activities from open low shelves, and there are plenty of group activities and learning projects too.
4 years - 6 years
The educators here aim to provide children about to begin their formal education with a variety of experiences that will help make the transition to school a positive and smooth experience. This includes the school readiness program, for social and educational development; teaching the children to be resilient with a social and self-esteem development program; encouraging independent thought within social interactions, decision making and contributing to the group. Writing, reading, mathematical and science concepts form part of their daily program.

Working with children has always been a passion of mine and I love the rewarding feeling of seeing the children grow. My favourite part of my role is building meaningful relationships with the children, families, community and educators.
