Stringybark Child Care and Learning Centre overview
Phone
(02) 9072 0769Welcome to Stringybark Learning Centre!
Stringybark has been educating and caring for children for the past 39 years. Our features are:
- long-serving team
- A nutritious, delicious meal
- Early intervention services offered
- Diversity and multiculturalism celebrated
- Family-owned and operated service.
- We provide an inquiry-based learning environment where educators are co-creators with the children as we discover and investigate the world around us.
- The aim of our program is to present children with challenging experiences in a beautiful environment. We respect the rights of children to be able to learn in a warm and supportive environment. We challenge children intellectually, socially, and physically by engaging with them on their own level and at their own pace.
- Our play-based learning program includes carefully planned, well-resourced activities that are guided by the children's interests and developmental stages. In the past, some of our interests and projects have focused on things like the roles people play in our community, dinosaurs, marine life, and international holidays. Play dough, sand play, obstacle courses, messy arts and crafts, outdoor games, unstructured free play, painting, cooking, singing, building with blocks and construction toys, sharing rhymes and songs'—the list of daily activities is endless.
- In the preschool room, we focus on developing the skills that children need to become lifelong learners. Stringybark educators are highly trained to educate and nurture the children in the preschool room, especially those who are transitioning to big school the following year. The program allows children to explore as they become critical thinkers. The children in this age group love to engage in conversations, and our educators take the time to encourage them to express themselves.

Sam
Can not rate the centre high enough. We moved to Stringybark from a larger centre and he has been so happy since we joined Stringybark. It is a small community service.
Joe
All educators are lovely and caring and know my son very well. It feels like family in so many ways.
Matthew
Stringybark is a small centre which is their advantage and gives the service a friendly and caring feel. We get daily updates with pictures and activities so we always have something to talk about it with our son on pick-up time. our son loves going there.
Jamie
The exact description of Stringybark can be a "second home". They are always welcoming not only to my daughter but to me as a parent. Love them, Thank you so much.

Children
We recognise that every child is a special person with their own needs, interests, and abilities. No matter their gender, culture, or socioeconomic status, all children receive equal opportunity.
Our Early childhood educators believe play is the most important learning tool a young child has. Through play they can construct their own understanding of their world.
Family
We acknowledge that families are the most significant influence on their children’s lives and have essential knowledge to impart. Parents will be made to feel welcome and incorporated into their children’s educational experiences.
Children have a connection to their families, culture, community, and place even before they are born. Their families are their children’s first and most important teachers, and we believe that having a close contact with them helps children learn when forming their identities, skills, relationships, and knowledge. To have the greatest possible impact on your child’s learning, we wish to collaborate with you and your family.
Educators
Every educator member is an individual with unique needs, interests, abilities, expertise, and experience, which we acknowledge and respect. We support educator members’ personal early childhood philosophy.
Parent Involvement
We value parents’ contributions to our programme and learning at Stringybark Early Learning Centre. There are many ways for parents to get involved, including serving as a guest speaker on a particular subject, participating in group lessons, offering feedback on our curriculum or governing principles, or attending one of our regularly scheduled events. You can be sure that everything you do will have a good effect on your child’s learning and development.

Programs
Programs
The program at Stringybark Child Care and Learning Centre focuses on providing the children with opportunities to interact socially as they learn through play. The children participate in yoga as a transition activity as well as a music program as part of the everyday routine.
As a diverse and inclusive centre, the educators regularly plan cultural celebrations and conversations into the program. The centre also uses a model of family grouping, which allows all age groups and siblings to be together. This provides opportunities for mentoring between the age groups and the children learn about working and playing with older and younger children.
About the curriculum
About the curriculum
The play-based curriculum at Stringybark Child Care and Learning aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework and is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. The curriculum is informed by daily observations and parental feedback to ensure that every child’s needs are met.
The curriculum focuses on the whole child, including their physical, social, emotional, cognitive, creative and moral growth. The educators provide them with different opportunities, both indoor and outdoor play as well as small and large group activities to extend their development.
