Uniting Early Learning Westmead

Both as an organisation and an early learning provider, we celebrate diversity of ability, age, ethnicity, faith, sexual orientation, intersex variation and/or gender identity and welcome everyone, exactly as they are.

Learning that we’re not all the same and come from many different backgrounds is an important life lesson, so we guide your child not only in embracing their own unique qualities, but the differences in those around them.

Our inclusive services cater to a diverse range of backgrounds and we encourage families to continue to communicate with their children in their home language, as research suggests being bilingual can be an asset for children’s ongoing learning ability.

We invite you to share any resources that might help our staff and other children learn more about your culture and home language; should you require support from a translation or interpretation service, don’t hesitate to ask your service director or coordinator.

The educators at Uniting Early Learning offer engaging and inclusive programs that are designed to inspire a love for learning in children. 

Play based learning: to prepare children for school. 

Intergenerational program: to build on the power of community, the centre makes the most of having older people living nearby and offers lots of opportunities for reading stories, painting, or gardening together. 

Bush Kindy: an outdoor learning program that encourages children to connect with nature.

STEM: the children explore science, technology, engineering and maths with their educators.

Sustainability program: the children are taught how to care for our world.

Movement program: the children have lots of room to play in the adventurous open spaces, dance to music, or take part in yoga sessions.

Messy play: the children can get their hands dirty in the playgrounds, with sandpits, mud kitchen and other natural features to explore.

Art studio: to encourage creativity, the centre offers access to an art studio for all.

Centre pets: children can help care for the centre’s own chickens, and help to manage the worm farm.

Gardening: the centre has its own veggie patch, and children also have access to the village gardens. 

Community excursions: to extend on their learning, the educators regularly take the children out into the community to places such as local parks and shops.

At Uniting Early Learning the educators believe children learn best through a play based curriculum. This allows each child to develop their  emotional and social wellbeing, fine and gross motor skills and their literacy and numeracy skills within a play based setting.

Infants & toddlers: safe, nurturing and reassuring 

Our care-based approach to babies and toddlers helps establish the building blocks for learning using play, singing, touch and reading to encourage their communication, physical development and social and emotional skills.  

Along with feeding, sleeping and change time, these reassuring interactions and routines provide important learning experiences that nurture the cognitive development, communication and social skills that meaningfully contribute to your child’s wellbeing, character and future achievement.  

Preschool program: developing a love of learning  

Through open-ended play and structured activities, our preschool program teaches your child the essential skill of learning that will meaningfully help them in their transition to ‘big school’, and far beyond.  

We involve your child in tailoring their own learning experience with stimulus that’s relevant to their interests, abilities, ideas and personality. By inspiring their creativity and self-expression, we pave the way for ongoing literacy, numeracy, problem-solving and language development.  

The positive, rewarding interactions with our staff and other children enhance the social and communication skills that will evolve them into a confident, thoughtful and well-rounded individual.

Being a part of an intergenerational site provides so many important opportunities for engagement and interaction between the young and old. We are also located opposite Parramatta Park which provides endless opportunities for learning and discovery. It is a privilege to be a part of Uniting Early Learning.
